Desperate..

Nian Chu Er

music_noteDa Tuan Yuan, Da Tuan Yuannnnnnnnn music_note

That song is kind of stuck in my head now la. Well, its Chinese New Year so I guess I'm forgiven. I even harassed Soly and asked her to miss-call me so that I could surprise her with my new happy tong-tong-chiang ring tone.

Gosh! I feel like a 40 (and above) years old uncle with a leather mobile pouch stripe to the belt, wearing strip polo shirt and pants pulled so high up sampai can cover the navel baru feel secure. Oh oh. And wearing slippar-jepun, curly sotong balls hair that can be used as an insect trap and long finger nail on the little pinky.

Anyway, here's some pictures taken on nian-chu-er (2nd day of CNY).

1
L-R: SL, Siaw Hung, Li Ling, Justin, Me, Chris

I know I look fatter so..... let's not talk about it.

So, the initial plan was meeting up at Soi Heng and breakfast there. Abuthen Soi Heng tutup so we went to Ta-Hua, a restaurant that I long long also won't step in to makan one. And the last time I went in there was having lunch there with SL, 48 and Shane. See, I can remember things well.

Before we left, I asked them to sit still because I wanted to take a picture of us in the restaurant. And they said, "Wait la.. we go Chris house then take...".

Okay lor. So I went to Chris house to pai-nian with the rest. Makan-makan, cakap-cakap, then when I said let's take a group picture, they said, "Wait lar... Go Ah-Ling house then take lah...".

smile_cry

Very uncooperative leh my friends.

2
Random pics taken in Ah-Ling's house, minus the camwhoring one. I was bored in the car while waiting for SL to come down from his house.

I'm not going to mention much what happened in the afternoon in Siaw Hung's place. Let's put it that way, the girls were very happy and the guys had to reach their wallets several times to pull out some extra notes.

Fast forward to malam....

Shirley invited us to her open-house because it was her birthday. It was nice seeing them (my colleagues) again. But I found myself left out because when they were talking about the school activities, I was really clueless and couldn't join in the conversation. Haih....

3
L-R: Shirley, Nonnie, Rohana. Vicky, Darren, Isa, Najib and Terry.

Not only I felt left out, I was also the only one who went there partner-less! Everyone went to the party in pairs. Then there came the million dollar question... "WHERE'S BOBBY?".

We're not Siamese twins okay.

And I don't understand why people had been asking me why didn't I stay at his place for CNY. Like hello? We're not married yet leh. I use what "identity" to stay there I ask you? I will feel paiseh to crash their family dinner especially on days like nian-30 (CNY's Eve). I know it's okay one, modern days liao mah... but I don't feel good about it bah. Furthermore, I don't see any problems of me being a lone-ranger for CNY. If Valentine's day then big big problem lah.

The Couples4
Clockwise from top left: Vicky and Darren. James and Shirley, Isa and Terry (just colleagues and not couple in love), Najib and Sheepy.

So I was bored because I had no one to whisper and giggle with, and also my appetite wasn't as big as Isa's who was eating and eating and eating... I found myself a new job...

Scooping the oil out from the kurmaaaaaaa!

5
Kick or not?

It was already an inch full in the plastic cup and there's still so much oil left inside the kurma. Can goreng cucur pisang already okay.

Cucur pisang with kurma flavour... anyone?

Tong Tong Tong Ciang

After few days of eating keropok non-stop with acar and blowing air into my palms hoping for some luck, I'm now adjusting myself to fit in to the ranty student life of mine.

Haih.

No pictures for this post as I'm currently blogging using the computer bulky desktop and all my pictures are un-edited yet. If I'm rajin tonight, I might draft a post tonight... IF LAH! Bobby is bringing me out for dinner tonight so.... Hehehhehee. Just wait la can?

My friends had been commenting on my current physical appearance... more on the negative side actually. Oh come on! Its CNY! Can't I let myself loose and enjoy those yummy snacks... which is free and all-you-can-eat? I will try to shake off those extra pounds later bah. Bobby also didn't complain liao lor why you all so concern with it then?

Bleh.

Bah, I gotta go continue with my school work.
Ta.

p/s: I hate using IE. And I hate to babysit lazy people who are just waiting for us to feed them with information. Yes, my level of tolerance is really really low this new year. Beat it!

44 / Serikandi / Mini-bloggers gathering

Short Note: How's the new skin folks? I had always wanted to have a 3 columns template and I finally found one with big (enough) post area to fit pictures in. Somehow I can't seem to insert in a blog banner, but anywaysssss, I'll figure a way out.. Or just biar kan ia.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think I'm the last to blog about Madam Tiff's (his wife) surprise birthday party and the rest had it all covered. So yeah, the lazy me just post up some photos (which I'd curi from here and there) and their blog links. HAHHAHAHHAHAAA.

Awww.... look at them. So sweet.

Oh, and those yummy cupcakes from Bunny, which disappeared really fast and I had to ask Mau if I could have some of hers.

s1

Grinch was the driver of the day picking Liza and her Superman and lastly me, in Seria... albeit he's like an hour late from the time he promised.

"Buffalo" (LOL! "Beracun" couldn't get his name right for the first 2 minutes and that's what he... she called him) played host and kept us entertained juggling around tables.

Mau, taking a gap year travelling around and making us really jealous just by hearing it. I'm so not going to visit your blog Mau, sakit hati looking at it when I'm penny-less to even spare on luxuries like spa treatment. What more to say makan-angin?

Hasrul, whom I bumped in occasionally in the campus. Click his name! He does reviews on sanctuary. How cool is that?

And E, so genuine and nice to talk to.

Not forgetting to mention that Rano and Alin were there too.
Koko Reeda, where were you? You said you're coming eh.

s2

Oh oh! Saw the above picture? CHANEL & a DSLR!!!
My utmost desirable items of all time.

E, I'm really really jealous of you having all those collections of Chanel babies!

Oh, and on the right was the amount of food I ate that night.
NYAMANNNNNNNNNNNNNNN !!! I was really greedy that I just wanna take a little bit of everything, and ended up with se-bukit makanan eventually.
Those clams were totally to die for!

Okie, I'm sleepy now and I'll leave it with their links if you wish to see more.

p/s: I think all girls love to see / stare / check their achievements (blackheads stuck on the nose strip) that's freshly peeled off. Hahhahaa.

At the moment, I'm alone at home waiting for the clock to strike 12.

Washed the toilet and bathroom.
Ate "gathering dinner" at my neighbour's.
Used my epilator.
Painted my nails.
Removed the blackheads.
Fit mask over my face.
Apply moisturizer...
Blogging and watching channel 301 at the same time.

So, what's next to do?

What's there to do for tomorrow?

I'm feeling a little lazy to drive up to BSB actually. Guess I'll just stay at home and tapao my favorite bento set from Kaizen.

I used to hate CNY songs with those tong-tong-tong-chiang. But now I hum along when the radio is playing it. Gosh, I think that's a sign of aging!

Kolomee + Bake Chicken Leg + Mushroom Soup + Twice Bake Potato + Deep fried mushroom... Sap sap water la

To be honest, I'm not a cooking/baking-addicts but I do think that I have some talent in it.

Even without recipe, I can agak-agak replicate it. Hehehhe.
And since today Ah Pui came down to keep me company, I rewarded him with some of King's cooking (which he majal-ed every time when we meet).

Breakfast..

Yeap, my very first attempt in cooking kolomee. And, I couldn't even find the recipe online! So I had to agak-agak try this and that to cook up the taste. And it worked!

Instead of char-siew, I used frankfurters.

Kolomee + Milo = Kick start for the day

Macam banar kan my kolomee?

Yummmmmm. I mean the noodles, not him.

And for lunch...

Don't play play. I cooked the mushroom soup from scratch okay! Its extra chunky and super kao.
Bobby said it tasted like those instant one, which... I don't know if that's a compliment or critic.

And also, I prepared twice baked potato and bake chicken whole leg. But because I had limited resources in my kitchen, I was out of onion and also red pepper. If only I have mozzarella cheese too. Mamma mia~

As for Bobby, I kind of forced him to prepare the below dish.

Deep fried mushroom~

It might not look very appealing to you but its delicious!

Okie, that's it for now. Will blog later I think.
But then.. there's too many nice tv program in the TV so I guess I'll say

Gong Xi Fa Cai, Xin Nian Kuai Le!

Project RunAway. My first basic skirt!

Heheheheheee.

After 6 days with 1.5hours per day, sewing and removing for don't know how many times and pricked my fingers every 15 minutes due to clumsiness. I finally finished it!

Lesson 1 is basic skirt, which I guess is the simplest of all.

1

I totally un-estimated the difficulties in tailoring. Its even harder than learning how to use a computer in my opinion. The measurements have to be exact, the sewing lines have to be straight or at least smooth and not "S"-ing around.

I drew the draft in my book first. Then transfer the measurements to actual ratio is human form in the brown paper. Cut the fabric, a lot of pinning and sewing, wa-la... my skirt.

2

The zip...3
is the hardest part of all! I spent almost 2 hours sewing it, removing it and sew again then remove again! In the end my teacher help me to attach it to the skirt. Haih.

The sewing machine get on my nerves all the time! I spent at least half an hour a lesson in trouble-shooing wondering what went wrong.

Why the bottom thread is not popping up?
Why is it stuck?
Why the thread clumped into one blob?
Why this why that?

And my eyes are failing me... I seriously need to get a new pair of specs.

Oh anyway, the end result.

4

Its just a plain brown skirt. Nice?

$1.80 per meter, cheapest of the cheapest.
Plus zip, and thread and so on... I think the whole skirt costs me less than $5.

But the satisfaction of completing something and its totally wearable,
priceless.

Are you looking for a job, or waiting for the job to look for you?

Being an income-less fee paying in-service student and also a daughter with too much pride to accept any help from parents, I have no choice but spend my savings for the whole 11 months and opt for a part time job. Since my "part time" was officially over on last Friday, now I'm on for a job hunt.

So, being typical Bruneian (Amen!), I went online, typed in the popular website in Brunei and clicked on the "Jobs" ad and later typed in "Part time" in the search box.

To my surprise, 7 out of 10 ads posted are actually "Job Wanted" instead of "Help Wanted".

Like, what the.... Nevermind.

I mean, if you're desperate for a job, aren't you suppose to prepare all your CVs, stamps, and envelope and post it to all those companies you're interested to work with. Or at least, be more rajin and search online and email all the HR department your CV.

Instead of,

"Hi, my name is Nonnie and I'm 25. I'm looking for any part time job available. I have bla bla bla qualifications and my working experience is bla bla bla years. I have a valid driving license and my own transportation. If you're interested in hiring me, feel free to contact me at ineedajob@iwantmoney.com. "

Waaaaa...... So bin-tua (big face) ask those bosses/hr managers to email you and tell you they want to hire you lagi. Steady.

Seriously, do you think its possible for them (the bosses) to email or contact you saying,

"Hi so-and-so. We read your postings in so-and-so website and we're interested in hiring you as a whatever-job. Please come to our office for a face-to-face interview together with your CV on whatever-day."

Its just so unprofessional!
To me lah.

Come on lah kawan, put more effort if you're really desperate for a job can or not? There's no such thing as free meal lah. If its so easy to get a job, then what makes you think that there's a 4% of unemployment rate in Brunei?

Being born in the 80s and 90s already earned us a not-so-reputable nick of being the:

1. Strawberry Group ( 草莓族 )

- Grow up in a "greenhouse" nicely protected, cute, sweet and nice to see, but once squeezed it'll be all rotten.

Meaning, we're a generation that put a lot of emphasize in dressing up and looking cool with gadgets and so on. But once we face stress or a blow/hit/strike.. we're unable to take it and collapse and just rot at home or waiting for someone to rescue us.

2. Moonlight Group ( 月光族)

- Or, loosely translated as "Month-Finish".

Meaning, spend every single cent they earned and have no planning in saving. Only care about eating (good food) happily, dressing up nicely despite of the amount they earned.

And.. not forgetting to mention about the "Princess Syndrome" that I talked about last April.

Of course, I know not everyone is like that lar. I'm not trying to stereotype here.

I just hope that we can all stop being so dependable on others and stand on our two feet. If you want something, go get it. But, with your own effort and ability. By that, I don't mean annoying your parents to no end asking for the latest camera/laptop/mobile phone or threatening them emotionally or physically. Okay?

No more spoon-feeding when you're old enough.

Sorry.. the blog will look cacat till 22nd Jan

KK Road Trip (Day 3 & 4) - Xmas Eve and Balik Kampung

Short Note:
Sorry, I'd been procrastinating and don't know why.. without internet connection in my lappie, I had no mood to edit the pictures and blog. All I did for the past few nights were, watching series or crashed in my block mate's room and chit chat then go brush teeth together. Its fun to be in a group. No more lone ranger-ing~

Anyway, I've been thinking if I should edit my blog skin... hands getting itchy again.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hehe, continue on Day 3.
I know.. this post is so last-year.

So, after visiting the Lok Kawi Wildlife Park, we went back to our apartment and took a rest and shower before heading for dinner. And of course, the girls get dressed up a bit because its xmas eve but the guys just wouldn't give a damn for it. Except for Yohei, he wore long pants (jeans) for the first time for the trip.

76
Getting all dressed.
Just, ignore the mess on the table...

77
while waiting for the rest.

LOL. Bobby was wearing his "Curtin Carnival" shirt. And he's super embarrassed about it but who ask him don't bring more baju...

we went to this restaurant

The waitress who served us was sweet and nice. But not the floor manager or supervisor lor. Forgot why liao, but I remember the dining experience there wasn't exactly that great. But the food was nice lah, just a bit pricey.

78
What we ordered. Sorry if you can't read Chinese.

79
I'm sure Bobby misses the zhu-du noodles. And he asked if I can cook that. Wah lao eh... I don't know and don't want to learn how to wash the oink's spare parts leh...

81
Xiao Long Baosss.

Sorry, the photo was overexposed. Must be the time when the display of my camera went blank.

82
Yohei concentrating in eating

83
All of us.

After makan makan, still early to go to pubs / clubs or whatever to join the crowd, so we headed to Centerpoint for more shopping.

84
while waiting for Bobby in the fitting room
p/s: I love my ankle boots. So CUTEEEEEEE!

Yohei and Alex illustrating how big the blue shirt is.

Vict loving the bag, but she didn't get it.

Next stop,
85
Bintang Duit~

Yohei ko-piak...
which means stuck to the wall.

Alex bought a new pair of shoes and terus wear 'em.

91
Caramel something? Or its Mocha? Can't remember...

With the adorable Vict with a lot of funny and silly quotes like, "Nah, oh your God or not?".

After Bintang Duit, we headed to the harbour front wanting to meet another friend. But, wah lao.. damn many people okay. To be more precise, damn lot of youngsters! The boys dressed up like Ah Bengs and the girls wearing skimpy dresses that the teacher in me had the urge to go towards them and pull down their skirts a bit.

(I thought Yohei would be happy to see those girls but he commented that those girls looked cheap. Ouch)

Instead of crashing into a club that's super full people, we chose an Irish bar which is just a couple of shops away. Guess we're all too old to be party animals. Haih.

Yohei, Nonnie and Bobby.
Saw any difference?

Us again posing.
Bobby, you need to try harder.

95
Vict looked stunning effortlessly...

96
More of us

And.. while chit chatting, Vict had an idea of having me posing with her fedora... Damn fail lah. She was like guiding me, "Nonnie, you tilt your head like that, then look at your shoulder. Then put your hand there. Look sexy.."

Sexy, is something that I'll never be... I think?
And also not a single fat chance to be a model too.

See,97
Vict looked great and... me, so cacat!
Macam I wanna scratch head like that.

98
Group picture again~

Next stop,
Tanjung Aru beach.

Paktoh.

Bobby and I being the oldest in the group, preferred to just sit on the rocks and chat.
Old and tired liao bah...

And when we're back to our apartment, we exchanged our xmas cards, which I forgot to take pictures of it. But we had almost the same idea in making the card. Hehhehee.

100
Our Christmas gifts. His and Hers.

Next morning, 101
The day we came back to Brunei.

Breakfast
Pan Meeeeeeeeeeee

You know ah, when someone looks good.. he/she can pull it off no matter what silly accessories or clothes he/she's wearing. Like Yohei's shades.

103
He looks cute in it. But the other two guys looked like Stevie and Wonder playing keyboards with a milo tin on a street.

Our luggages

104
The whole belakang of Innova full full.

Our lunch, stopping by in.... Sipitang I think?105
Murtabak / Roti Canai / Roti Prata

Yohei, with the pants which he had been wearing for DAYS!
(Click the previous achieves and you'll realize that)

107
Filling up the forms in the border.

Me, being the tai-ka-cheh queuing up to have the passports stamped.

108

5 passports,109
4 different nationality.

Then... we're back in Brunei.

Don't worry if you wanna see more of Yohei.
We met up the next day again and this time, I played the driver and tour guide bringing them around BSB.

p.s: Dunno why still a bit malas in blogging lah... Need to get my blog bugs back.
