My version of congee

P1050596

Cooked a lazy lunch yesterday with whatever ingredients I can find in the fridge. Very greedy when it comes to food.

Diced shallots, soaked mushroom and black fungus, peanuts (love love love peanuts!), hand-shredded chicken breast…. then, was too lazy to shred manyak-manyak and went to open the freezer, took out cheese sausage and sliced them up.

I know, more like rojak porridge mah~

Nyaman ok~

Choco Fountain Choco Fountain!

Due to the Raya craze lately, in addition with my lack of physical activities (lying on the bed and munching on cuttlefish strings definitely does not count as exercise)….. expectedly, I’ve make some new friends around my face, waist, hip and thighs. Wooohoo! Not!

Not one, but quite a number of friends who I’d bumped into lately commented the same. And the most kua-cheong one was, “You gain, got 5 kg or not ah…..?”

*take shotgun and point at my right temple*

P1050556

And yesterday, I think I just exceed my calories intake limit.

Fountain with fresh melted chocolate dripping. Strawberries, bananas, waffle, marshmellows… Oh dear Grinch, you sure know how to throw a Raya party.

P1050563

And that’s not all. You can not miss out Arab-Families’s annual Raya party as well! Its not just buffet tables… but stalls, not just your average oriental food but, hawker stalls with kebabs, dim sums, Mongolian BBQ, ABCs (Cendols) and ICE CREAMS!!!!

Haaaaaaaa……………….

*rub tummy*

Updating, for the sake of updating

Mm…. what should I say?

Okay, my week has really been unproductive in a productive way. LOL! Does it even make sense? What else ah? I do have things to update in Spirithrift but I don’t know what has got up to me (lazy bug probably), I just feel like slacking the wholeeeeeeeeeeeeeee day, roaming around aimlessly around the house, lying on the bed channel surfing, reading the achieves of Lamebook (yes, I prefer it more than FML because got images. Hahhaha. Very visual~)

Anyway, Cheezbox’s Sungkai Buffet is good!

No pictures of it because I’m a bad blogger.

Me: Oh Shoot! I left my camera at home!
Atul: Me too.
Tina: You and you! Bad bloggers.

*took over Tina’s LX3 and snapped away… for 10 seconds*

Me: Ahhhh…. couldn’t be bothered. I wanna enjoy my food now!
Me: *nom nom nom nom nom nom*

See? Can tell right? Malas brabis!

Actually, I do have a certain topic going on in my head…

I’ve been thinking, you know, sometimes your friend will tell you something bad about this certain person, but you feel otherwise.

Or, you’ve been receiving positive comments about someone. Sekali, meeting the someone in person, it’s a whole different feeling.

So, do you trust the “common remarks” or your sixth sense?

I just hate the whole “I TOLD YOU SO”.

Bah, gtg, Astro on Demand is the bomb!

My take on Sungkai Buffets

Four words,
Eating and spending more.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I don’t like sungkai buffets. As a matter of fact, I adore them! So many choices, fit for greedy pigs like me who go for options instead of quantity.

It’s just that, I realized… After few rounds of sungkai buffets with friends, I’m actually spending way “ahead” of my budget.

Sungkai buffets start at around price of $9.90 per head and way up to $50 for those premium restaurants. Ever since I finished my D.I.E course in UBD, I think I spend less than $30 a month on food. Biasalah… 3 meals also eat at home, if go out paktoh paktoh either go dutch or Bobby belanja also. What also won’t exceed $50 one lah.

Not only did I spent more, I also feel that I’ve put extra weight because of my kiasuness. You know, the whole point of ,

“Wah lao eh.. lao-niang spent $20 eating this meal. Must die die eat back the money don’t rugi man”

Hahhahaa. No lah, people who ever go on sungkai buffet with me knows that I’m not that scary lah. My maximum intake is 2 rounds. That’s it. Avoiding rice and fried noodles most of the time.

Ghost also know eat too much outside food not healthy lah. Plus this one, unlimited supply with all those greasy, salty, sweet and spicy goodness lagi. How to say no wor?

Humphhh!!!
The sungkai buffet at Cheezbox tomorrow with the Girly Bloggers is going to be my last sungkai buffet! Just let me enjoy it first lah!

And, Bobby just came up with the craziest idea for our upcoming weekend plan.

People Saturday night go clubbing and drinking, my boyfriend and I tabalik, we’re just going to order a KFC bucket, watch movies and eat our heart out! HAHAHHAHAAA.

Long live my liver, gastric, heart and fats around my waist, thighs and bum!

ARGH!!! STUPID STUPID STUPID!

The title original for this post was “BLOODY HELL!”, but I thought… it’s not that nice. Oh whatever, I’m just trying to tell you that I’m really really really mad!!!

!!!!

So it was like this. After school, I planned to meet up with Vikki at Soon Lee to pass her the item she wanted from Spirithrift and so I drove there. It was 12+ pm and the traffic was bad as everyone was trying to get parking.

I thought I was quite lucky when I saw a car putting reverse light and about to get off the parking and the red car in front of me was already half way past the car. Hence, I put on the signal light with a glimpse of happiness in my heart.

1

And guess what. Once the stupid red car in front of me saw the reverse light, without hesitating, the driver reversed his car with full speed!!!! I was shocked and kept honking hoping that he would stop.

Of course, you smart readers out there have guessed correctly what happened next.

2

Yup. The bloody red Suzuki Vitara hit my car.

Then, came down a Gurkha man.
I don’t mean to stereotype but, my my, why am I not surprise….

(Seriously! They’re like the ultimate road killing machine on the loose! When I told my friends about it, they start telling me that they also nearly or ever kana accidents caused by the Gurkhas. )

I went down my car too and couldn’t help but scolded that man,

“OMG! ARE YOU BLIND OR ARE YOU DEAF?! I KEPT HONKING YOU ALREADY!!!”

And expectedly, that man claimed that “he did not see my car”.
How very convenient.

I checked the damage of my car and it’s not severe. But still there’s some cracks and the bonnet fit seemed “lari alignment” and the bumper is like “pushed in”.

Not wanting to make a scene in the middle of the road, I parked my car aside and he too.

I took out my camera and started taking pictures, looked for witnesses around me if necessary. I’m really really lucky that I had my first job working in a workshop and I know what to do when accident happens. Plus, with my personality, I don’t panic or get frightened not knowing what to do especially when it’s obviously not my fault.

I showed that bugger (okay, I know I’m using more and more offensive words but I can’t help it!) the damages of my car and guess what, he replied…

”I don’t see any damage at all”

Oh. My. Buddha! Someone please take a gun and shoot him please.

I already sibeh hot liao mou-tin-tin kana hit, some more under the hot hot sun lagi, then he said something like that, really HOT ah!

Because he’s driving a Vitara, it was his tyre which kana my bumper so the damage was actually minimized.

But still….. HE BLIND ONE KAH!

I showed him this,

P1050244

(Can see those little little scratches right?)

this,

P1050253

(The gap so freaking big leh!!!!)

and this,

P1050250

(obviously, the bumper macam “pushed in” kan?)

HE HAD THE CHEEK TO SAY THERE’S NO DAMAGE AT ALL!!!!
HE SAID ORIGINAL LIKE THAT ONE!
HAND ME THE AK47 NOW PLEASE.
DON’T STOP ME.

I called up my ex-boss, a beloved uncle whom I already mafan-ed him a lot back in the days and this time really ah… 无事不登三宝殿.. really is me this kind of people liao. I told him what happened and he responded with a “nevermind lah” attitude… He said I can just repair at the workshop f.o.c but I don’t want bah… Ming-ming not my fault, ming-ming that Gurkha’s fault, I die die want him to pay for it!

THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS FREE LUNCH OKAY!

Then, uncle said whatever the Gurkha can pay then pay lor, he covers the rest. Haiyah! Really don’t know say I lucky or unlucky ah.

I told the bugger about the estimate repair cost and he still insisted that there’s no damage done!

Beh tahan and I went on and on nagging and scolding him….

“Hey. Look here. I’m not trying to be unreasonable here. Obviously this is your fault and my car is not what you termed as “original like that”. It’s not that I don’t have the money to pay for it, but this is ridiculous! You did something wrong and you think you can just walk away like that?! OMG! This is so unfair! You’re unbelievable! This is crazy. You must be blind man! How can you say that there’s no damage! You hit my car and there’s a loud bang! Sure my car looks okay, but LOOK HERE!!! THIS IS WHAT YOU DID TO MY CAR! ”

And I went on and on like a scratched disc, repeating it over and over again.

Eh, very good liao okay. I did not insult, or said any racist terms or use any bad words. ALL DECENT WORDS!

He dared me to call the cops and so I did. You think I scare you ah! He claimed that there’s no witness and oh no, he’s so damn wrong, “NO WITNESS? ARE YOU SURE? I HONKED SO LOUD JUSTNOW AND ALL THE STAFFS WORKING IN THAT RESTAURANT HEARD ME AND SAW EVERYTHING! I CAN ASK THEM TO BE MY WITNESS! NOW!”

While waiting for the police to come, I went on and on nagging. Called Vikki (whom I was supposed to meet) and told her what happened. She was really kind and came over and helped me out in the situation. Hah!!

In the end, that bugger went back to his car, and asked his wife to negotiate with me about the compensation. His wife apologized and said that he’s very angry, the kids were crying, yadda yadda yadda… What? My problem meh that his EQ so low?

Finally, after about 10 minutes of talking to the wife, the case was settled and damn, I’m still not happy about it!

Lucky school holiday is about to start and I can send my car for repair this Monday. Also, I should consider myself lucky because it was his spare tyre that hit my car. If bumper to bumper sure more teruk.

Anyway,

BEWARE OF THIS CAR ON THE ROAD! DON’T YOU DARE COMPETE WITH HIM FOR PARKING SPACE EVENTHOUGH IT IS RIGHTFULLY YOURS!

Don’t talk to me please..

I would try my best not to step in the hair saloon and beauty saloon as much as I can. Its not because of the price.. (of course, that’s one of the factors too lah), it’s the people working there doing their usual “PR-ing”.

Yes, I’m dreading having to sit on the chair/ lie on the facial bed for 2 hours answering questions macam kana interview.

“Where you work ah?”

“Harr… wah… so far ah…Then you very tired lor.”

“Your hair/skin a bit dry, I recommend you this one product ah.. very good one!” <- I hate this part!

“You got boyfriend ah?”

“Why you long time no come already?”

“You eat already or not ah?”

“We got promotion now.. you get this get that, then free this free that. Very good. Sayang bah if you don’t want.”

Sometimes I really wish that I have the switch in my head that I can terus go to sleep and block my ears out. I’m super anti-social when it comes to this.

And, the thing that I dislike about shopping is… yes, you got it, having salesperson tailgating me!

“Miss, this one new arrival.”

“Got special offer now.”

Then proceed with taking so many many baju and ask me go try in the fitting room. Wa beh tahan ahhhhh.

Once I step into a shop, if got salesperson bombard me with questions and information, I will smile and terus walk out one. I love shops with understanding salesperson. You know, those who greet you from far and just say, “If you need anything, you just call me ya”.

Itu lah my type.

True bah… If I need help, I will ask for assistance myself.

I remember telling Bobby, “Yeah! I like this shop! Nobody layan me! I can shop around freely without feeling pressurized. Hahahahah!”

Ya, I’m weird. Tell me about it.

I got tagged by my student in FB

mm

Okay….

I think I should feel happy for the caption I was categorized in.

Why did I start “Spirithrift”?

If you’re not aware of it, yes, Spirithrift is now open!

As you all know that I’d been pretty excited with my two previous Garage Sales held at Angie’s house and it was fun!!!

Fun from the beginning till the end.

Collecting and packing the items. Set a price for it. Took pictures and put it up my blog for a preview. I didn’t think it’s troublesome, but… it was an enjoyable process for me (if I like the item myself, I’ll wish that it can find an owner who will truly treasure it, rather than residing in a dark corner inside the wardrobe).

The response was overwhelming. I had friends texting me in the middle of the night “booking” the items, emailing me and so on. And it continues even up to today! Even though the garage sales was like 2 weeks ago, I still received emails asking me for those items.

I like it!

I like how unwanted items can finally find it’s worth and also a new owner.

And I like seeing money growing out from what we consider as …. “junks” (I so not want to use this word but can’t think of a better replacement) with zero value.

One person’s rubbish is another’s treasure.

So there, I set up a blog, okay… more like an online flea-market / garage sale, asking if there’s anything my friends don’t use/need it anymore and sell it. Then the person who bought it also happy pasal they found treasures at a relatively cheap price.

You Happy, I Happy, Everybody Happy.

And… yang lama tak pergi, yang baru tak datang.
(Sorry, direct translation from a Chinese saying)

Happy Shopping everyone!

To be honest, I prefer Spirithrift better than tamu.
So I’ve made up my mind.
Regardless of the poll result, I’m sticking with Spirithrift and tomorrow, 999 (damn auspicious isn’t it. Cina brabis!) , I will be launching the blogsite.

Watch this space people.

Chatuchak does most of the tricks

This,

1

is, one rare piece of artwork taken by MyAhPui.

Oversized off-shoulder; Chatuchak Market
Turquoise singlet; Chatuchak Market
Belt; Chatuchak Market
Checkered legging; eBay
Slouchy bag; Mango
Peep-toe sandals; Vincci

FussyKelly commented that after my BKK trip, she finally saw new elements in my outfit apart from the signature “white tee w/ big checkered heart” and “black satin shorts” whenever I’m out meeting them. As you can see, 4 out of 6 items were from BKK. I <3 BKK!

I have to admit it. I feel extremely lazy to dress up when I’m out in my hometown just for a casual meet up in Universal munching my favorite butter toast + half boiled egg. And so, I requested Bobby to take a picture of my outfit today in order to encourage myself in putting more effort in dressing up.

Transforming necklaces into headbands

I’d bought a lot of headbands from my last Bangkok trip at a really cheap price, comparing to the price selling at the local stores. And lately, I’d came across a lot of blog sites selling handmade headbands/ head pieces at a relatively… expensive price.

(Not sure for you, but any headbands more than $10 is expensive to me!)

This,
01

I bought from Chatuchak Market for about B$1.00.

02

Simple and Chic.

And yesterday, after surfing at couple of blogshops selling headbands, I went googled DIY headbands myself and yet… it all looks so tough to make lah!

Hence, I came up with my own version.
Way simpler and, cheap.

Ingredients:
Necklace, any necklace…. as long as it’s long enough.
Definitely not metal one ya. Preferably those beady type.

And,

03

Rubber band.

Here I’m going to use a necklace, which I never wear because… I think it was some sort of hand-me-down. Am not a accessories-person.

04

First step, make an arch and shape your necklace like this (below).

05

So, that’s how your headband is going to look like, on your head.

Then all you need to do is to attach both ends up with the rubber band.

06

Tie knots.

07

Snip off the extras.

There, a stretchy headband!

08

Ceng ceng ceng ceng~
Not bad right? Can recycle your necklace like that.

Then, I tried with a more beady necklace with a big heart pendant.

09

Weeeee!

10

It works too!

11

I think it will be really cute if you have those necklaces with small teddy bears charms and so on!

Go on, try it out!

The good thing about this project is, if you want your necklace back.. just open up the knots or simply snip the rubber band!

Totally reversible!

Spirithrift, or Spiritamu ?

Okay, the garage sale craze is not over yet and… I’m setting up a online flea-market blog soon selling preloved items.

Problem now is…

I don’t know what to name it!!!

I came up with two names,

SPIRITHRIFT and SPIRITAMU…..

Spirithrift sounds cute, and I like the word Thrifty~
Avoiding to waste and spend wisely mah.

Spiritamu, on the hand, is very local.

HELP!!!

Vote vote vote!
I set up a poll at the side bar.
