The thing about Garage Sale

I’m still waiting for FussyKelly to upload the photos taken yesterday (which I totally soooooooo understand why the delay… aching body on Monday is no fun!) so that I can blog about it. Thus, I’ll just write some of my thoughts about the event yesterday for the moment.

1. Early Birds!

Though advertised that the garage sale will be timed from 8am – 4.30pm, people came as early as 7am, when Auntie Lilian was just about to reverse her car to make space for the event. I arrived at 7.10am and thought I was early enough this time, but no…

The customers saw me unloading boxes off my car and straight came in already already. I had to tell him that we’re not ready yet and asked him to kindly come back at 8am.

Guess what?

He (They) showed up again at 7.45am and went on an auto-pilot mode searching for treasures/good bargain.

2. Reserving

It’s a good thing that I advertised what I’m going to sell on my humble blog before the event because I could make earlier sales, meaning… I don’t need to bring so many things for the garage sale!

Once my fellow friends items they liked, they text me instantly asking me to reserve for them. I like I like.

So dear readers, if there’s something that you wish to buy, do not wait until the actual day. It will be too late.

3. Bargaining / Nasty Customers

It’s inevitable. We sellers are so ready for customers to ask for a discount but please, we’re not in Chatuchak Weekend Market or Petalling Street (Chee-Chiong-Kai)!

It’s very very very very very very very unreasonable to slash the price into half!

It’s a garage sale for God’s sake. Not Grand Sale lah!

Already cheap bah the barang.

$1 item (for something originally priced $20 and above) still ask for discount.. how can?

”How much this?”
”$20”
”Bah, $10 lah…

(Okay, I have A LOT to say for this part!)

For something I bought for $65 and rarely used, I let it go for only $28, last price $25. One uncle die-die want to discount until $20 and claimed that he bought another brand for just $8 and bla-bla-bla.

I took a step back and told him $23, last price, and he still went on and on and on and on wanting it for $20.

For people like that, I will smile, and turn away and proceed with my own work, while he still stubbornly wanting me to give him the discount and pestered me about his $8 bargain.

Seeing that his tactic didn’t work on me, he then said the “most-annoying-phrase-that-I-really-really-hate-people-saying-it-to-me”….

”Eh. Ko ani! Majal jua”

I HATE THE “KO ANI!”

I don’t owe you anything, or did anything to make you put me down like that lar. I don’t know for others, but I think it’s very rude to say that.

Instead of getting mad at him, I smiled and replied,

”Ya. Macam kita. Pemajal.”

LOL. I think that tickled him and he paid the $23….

which, I totally regretted!
Because another nice girl came up to me after like 15mins asking me if I still have that item. Aiyahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

Dear readers,
Please kindly reserve the item by emailing me next time.
I wanna give privilege for you all bah.

And FussyKelly also had a bad encounter with a man too. They had a belt for sale, still new in box and the brand is somewhat recognizable (Valentino), selling it for…. can’t remember the price, I think.. $15 ~ $20.

Then came a man with his son. His son wanted the belt and so they asked for the price. After few rounds of bargaining, the man still didn’t agree with the price and put a $10 note on the chair with the take-it-or-leave-it attitude.

What the….

Excuse me sir, we’re not begging you to buy okay.
No need to treat us like beggars.

Really, we rather give the item away for charity or relatives also don’t want your $10! You think your $10 very big ah.

*shows fist*

Last one. A man came asking me about the bags I was selling. One was $3 and the other was $10. And he complained why the difference and yadda yadda yadda.

*smile first*

“The burgers in Pasar Malam is $1. But KFC one $5. Same same burgers but difference in price. You cannot compare like that one sir.”

4. Nice Customers!

Must balance a bit. Got nasty one of course also got nice nice one who melted our hearts. LOL. Exaggerated a bit.

FussyKelly requested me to blog about this.

Remember the pair of FABIANO RICCO Peep Toes that was advertised? She bought it for RM 79.90, wore it only once (few hours to be exact) for a function and letting it go for only B$ 26.00.

There was this really nice pair of couple (my readers, eeeseh!) came and tried on the shoes and it really looked good on the girl. And, the good part was… they didn’t slash the price like others and they were already happy with the discount given.

Tips to all buyers:
Be nice to the seller. No need you to ask for discount, they sendiri also will give you, plus free gift lagi. Tabalik

Okay, that’s it for now.
Wanna rest early again today.
Night people.

Chap-chap-ojipala (miscellaenous) basket
I just put in small items inside and hence dear customers, if any, you have to be early that day to find good buys.

The 3 headbands on the bottom left were bought in my last Bangkok trip. I kind of bought too many of it so I’m selling 3 away.

1 for $1
3 for $2.50
If you’re smart, you will definitely get 4 items.

The reason I price like that is because I want to get rid of the things inside.

Those bracelets and necklaces, hahhahaa, my mum said I can set up a briefcase stall like China-man/woman already.
