Life in Hostel - Week 2

I just spent a total of 50 minutes uploading 16 pictures from my laptop, one at a time. Lucky the connection today seems pretty good and no one has been restarting the router.

I tried my best to limit the stuffs to bring up/ down but still every time I ended looking like a refugee escaping or China woman selling pirated DVDs with 3 to 4 big bloody bags!

Normally I'll have one bag for laundry. Another one for my laptop and school stuffs (semuanya paper, the orientation bag) and one last bag for miscellaneous stuffs such as my facial products and other ojipala.

And today... more terror!

Apart from the usual 3 bags, I brought up....

A piece of long fabric to cover my table.

This was how my table look like a week ago. Macam in science lab kana poured by unknown chemical substance leaving stains and marks behind.

So I brought up a piece of long fabric and cover it up.

Mattress comforter - to make myself feel better being one layer away from what it looked like

Jug Kettle. Boiling water to make myself a cup of Milo is so much easier now!

Oh oh. I forgot to take picture for my mini rice cooker. Mum told her to boil water using the jug first then pour it over to the rice cooker to cook faster.

My savior - Air Purifier!

Now I'll be greeted with nice lavender scent instead of having to feel like my room belongs to some random old people who refuses to bath.

Not asking you to see the toilet paper lah. Check out the two bottles, cooking oil in the red bottle and the other one is soy sauce!

I finally have a rubbish bin! Previously I just ching-chai took a plastic bag and leave it on my table nia. The red bucket is my shower bucket. I think most girls do that here.

My laundry bucket - cute or not?

My wardrobe - with only 2 baju kurung.

Since the wardrobe doesn't have selves or divider to put other casual clothing, so I bought this hanging cabinet thingie for $5.90.

Not bad hor?
Not until I hung it up and wanted to put my clothes inside baru realized...

My height is less 180cm ... not even more than 165cm and it's pretty hard for me to reach it.

(I blurred myself out because the attire was not fit for this blog. It was raining heavily and I was caught in the rain so I took off the wet shirt and leave the tube on.)

The first meal I cooked in UBD. Penang Har Mee. Ho liao~!
Served best with TVB dramas.

(My classmates)

And this is me... incase you guys had already forgotten how I look like. It only has been a week since I left school and some commented I look thinner and some said I'm fatter.

o_O ?
I think most of you will agree with the later anyway.

The camera is not mine, obviously (cos I no duit to buy now).

btw,
Current Hostel-Mate Count = Still Zero.

Last night I heard a bunch of girls surprising my floor-mate (living in the same floor but don't know how she looks like) with a birthday cake and singing for her at 12am. So sweet lah the girls. I felt like walking out my room and just walked over to greet the birthday girl but then paiseh also since I don't even know any of them. Just walk over like that like so... perasaan.

Wonder how my birthday will be celebrated this year with limited budget.

Oh ya, I tried frying an egg with my rice cooker today.

Erm...
I think I need to put more oil next time.

Eesssh!

I can't publish my post in Windows Live Writer.
Tried for hours and I give up now.
Having to walk all the way to ICTC fishing for wireless is not fun but that's my only way to get internet access.

.... provided the Chinese guy beside me doesn't go reset the router like what he did this morning.
3 to 4 times you know! Everytime my page load half way, then putus tia.
And he did it without acknowledging.

Sure its free and public and all, but shouldn't he at least you know.. show some courtesy instead of having us (other users) puzzled why the error notices in our tabs and msn blinking. Then when we turned around, there we saw him standing next to the switch.

Anyway, this is my second week here.

And when asked how's UBD, I find it pretty hard to answer because... I can't exactly describe my feelings. Sometimes I answered "Great", else I'll just said... "Err.. sucks. Because yadda yadda yadda... (proceed telling stories on how "kasian" I am hoping for some pity points or free meals. LOL. Only to people I'm comfortable and close with that is)

I cooked instant noodles with rice cooker this morning. The noodles turned out a bit soggy and I had a hard time taking the noodles out without a strainer. And I'm going to try to fry an egg in it tomorrow. Oh wait, there's no thermostat there, how am I going to control the temperature? I hope it won't chao-da.

For the moment I still have difficulties sleeping in my room. I kept waking up in the middle of the night. Sigh....

And hor, some of my kanasai friends love to scare me.

Them: Which block you stay?

Me: F4

Them: Wah.... so far. Near the hutan. Eh, you ever see or hear anything kah?

Me: Monkeys got lah. What else?

Them: You know..... its near to the forest....

Me: And....?

Them: Ntah eh, you don't hear got stories there kan?

Me: What kan?

Them: Nevermind. Don't wanna tell you.

What the heck! See! Now whenever I brushed my teeth and washed my face at night I don't dare to look into the mirror in the washroom liao! And it does feel scary to walk back alone from the parking lot to my block at night....

Can't wait to go back Seria on Thursday.

Blogpaste

One familiar face added to the event, Paula Malai Ali!

I can't wait for the event to come! And I'm sure to get inspired and learn a lot from these successful women. For now I just need to photocopy the invitation and tell my lecturers so I won't get barred.

p/s: Keep the votes coming in. I'm still wondering why the 50-50 of the votes.

James & Shirley's Wedding 888

This was the first time in my life that I'd followed a Malay wedding from morning till night.

Vicky picked me up from my place and we headed to Shirl's place. Seeing her all dressed up in white did made us feel like having a impulse wedding, especially Vicky. Peer pressure I guess? We'd lost count the number of times kana asked "Bila kahwin?".

I'm not going to dwell into this topic again because..... I DON'T HAVE TO EXPLAIN TO YOU WHY I WANNA GET MARRIED LATER just to satisfy your curiosity and kayponess.

Pictures ahead.

It was my first time stepping into the Pandan Mosque and we're told that we had to use the selendang. It kept dropping and we had to keep usai it.

Lot of funny things happened in the mosque.

1) The imam had problem pronouncing Shirl's name. LOL! Why am I not surprise? Everyone has difficulty reading her name because there's 10 (SEPULUH. TEN!) syllables in her first name! Not sure if she's fine with me saying her name here but, there goes.

Her name is..... Shirleyrieviannamonayanie.
One word.

(I might delete off the part with her name if she's not OK with it)

2) James had problem reading something something (don't ask me. I don't know) and repeated 3 times thus the Imam also had to keep repeating Shirl's name.

3) Once they signed and exchanged the ring, one of James friends clapped! HAHHAHAHA. Then people stared at him and he said, "What? Cannot clap one kah?"

4) Someone was vacuuming upstair and bising yo!

Luncheon

The lunch was simple. And the newly weds couldn't wait to come down the moment they saw some of their friends arrived but the elders kept asking them to wait in their room until their grand appearance.

Night Party

They had a mini party and everyone ended up stuck in front of the tv watching the Olympics opening. My mum went to another wedding too and the same thing happened. Everyone just couldn't take the eyes off the tv.

Hmm... You block, I park again!

I saw this, blogged about it and few weeks later, they improved!

But last Thursday when I went there again, the same thing happened again... even with the cones blocking the way.

See, the cones are still there but people just couldn't care less about it.
Sigh..... Some things just don't change, do they?

................................................................................................................................................

And last couple of days my classmate complained to me that a girl just parked conveniently beside the divider(?)... I'm not sure what is it called actually. Boulder?

The girl took a left turn and terus parked there! Forcing all the cars after her having to watch out for her car when taking turns.
Steady, and so typical.

The thing was, there was more parking available further down the road but I guess she was wearing super high heels thus she tried to figure out a route to walk as less as she could. For whatever reason it was, I just couldn't agree with attitude like that.

Selfish and irresponsible.

Gosh, I'm so much like ParkingIdiot now pointing all this out.
And I'm glad that I stay in the hostel, which only takes me 7 minutes or so walking to my faculty.

080808

Such auspicious number.

Brb.
Was busy about Shirl's wedding the whole day and now we're going to have BBQ.
Gonna miss Olympic's opening though.
Nevermind, I'm sure got playback or someone will upload to Youtube lah.

This post will be edited once I got the photos done.

// Mum just bought a jug kettle and put a small rice cooker in my car. My room macam is becoming a suite. LOL! //

From a teacher, back to a student

Okay. I have so many to tell for the recent happenings.

So yesterday I went up to BSB with my mum to settle the payments for the hostel due to the reason the finance department "habis nombor" on Saturday and I wasted my entire trip and had to go up BSB again early Sunday.

I was happy that there wasn't much people there and took the number, filled up my details and its already my turn. But, I waited for more than 20 minutes just for the receipts to be printed out. What are they using? Pentium MMX?

The lady looked at me awkwardly as I started to show my impatience when tapping the table. I understand that it wasn't her fault too but yeah, that kind of spoil my Sunday morning.

The highlight of the day was....
After getting my receipts for the hostel payments (finally!), we went to the hostel hoping to get the key and tidy the room up, unpack and check what else I need to buy.. Sekali, the office was only opened from 2 - 6pm.

Sigh. They just love making our (students) lives difficult don't they? I really pity those parents who came all the way from Temburong lah. I saw a lot of sad + angry + impatient faces walking away from the door where they pasted the notice and all we could do was sighed and figured what to do next.

So there. I had 4 hours to kill before taking the key.

Went to Giant with mom to buy some groceries and food. Instant noodles, instant milo + cereal, biscuits, shampoo, hair conditioner, bucket and all those ki-li-ka-lak.

Then went to Bengkurong for the Pusat Ehsan Charity Bazaar. So freaking hot! And Bobby more kasian. Working on Sunday, writing numbers on the coupon booklets and filling helium into the balloons and tied them up. And the uniform he was wearing... macam NBT mechanic!

(Crap. I wonder how many of his colleagues will read this)

Saw Maurina and her beau. He was really sweet, walking behind her and taking pictures for her. *green with envy*

Me: I'm waiting for Bobby.
Maurina: As usual..

Sad hor?! Its like... biasa already everyone knows that...
I HAVE TO WAIT FOR BOBBY ALL THE TIME!

Nope. No pictures taken by me at the bazaar because I left my SD card in the car and took the camera with me. I'm not a blogger. I just like to jot down my snippets of life.

Had a quick lunch and off Bobby went back to take a shower and my mom and I went back to the hostel again and wah! Damn ramai orang already.

Some people really like move house okay. Ironing board, broom, mop, shoe racks, and some even brought big big Mashimaro and CJ7 plushies. Blankets and pillows are quite common lah. And I thought I packed too much. Hahhaaha.

Waited an hour for my turn, paid $20 for activity fees and grabbed my key.

My block is pretty far away from the entrance but at least my room is located near the staircase and not those far end one. Thank God.

And when I opened up the door.. Ceng ceng ceng.
The room had this smell like... an old man's room. If you get what I mean. And I think the smell comes from the wardrobe.

My room
with my mom posing in deep thoughts.

My bed

I kept dusting the bed and took some tissues to wipe it. And as for the pillow, I chucked it into the wardrobe already. What? I sleep without pillow what, which is good.

No thanks to the previous owner of the room who somehow dirtied the mattress (which I don't want to know how she did it) and also pasted posters or what so ever on the walls leaving ugly leftover tapes. Everywhere I go, I see those ugly bits and pieces. So depressing.

And another girl's room which is 2 doors after mine has really nice and clean pink walls which look so bright and happy. Even Bobby asked how come my room looks so shabby. Sigh.

I'm not complaining. I guess I'm already lucky enough to get a room despite of my status and living in the hostel is going to save up a lot of money.

Then later Bobby came over and brought my mum and I down to Seria to send my mom back home, had a quick tea with FussyKelly and I took advantage of him, asking him to pump air into my tyres.

He loves to ask me when was the last time I fill air into my tyres mah, I let him do that lor. The last time I tried filling air in, I dropped the tip and it fell into the longkang. And now my spare tyre doesn't have the tip one.

I stayed in the car because,

Bobby: What are you doing?

Me: Come down and company you lah.

Bobby: No, you stay in the car. Later people drives away your car.

Me: Hahhahaa. Siao one you.

Bobby: No, I'm serious. You stay in the car. Just let me do it.

Me: =s

Has dinner at home and off we went up BSB again. Lucky Bobby was the one driving. I just sang to keep him entertained. Hhaahhaa. He said I'm more entertaining and fun than any radio station. I'm his personal jukebox, a broken and out of tune one.

Then.... went back to the hostel and organized my stuffs to make it look more, presentable?

My table

The shelves

Not planning to buy so many stuffs because I'm sick of packing them up and bringing back to Seria 4 months later. Better keep my stuffs simple.

My lovely companion

I slept at 12+ am last night. Really cannot sleep man.
I was very tired but I just rolled left and right and yawned.
I guess I need more time.

............................................................................................................................................................

How's my first day of school you ask?

Tiring! Spent the whole day walking around in circles, I mean squares (SHBIE building kan squarish) trying to fix the timetable and looking for lecturers. Ew-Bee-Dee is huge! I think the total distance I'd walked today macam got KB to Seria already.

Maybe I reminisced too much about my old days. So now I have to walk to school just like what I did 10 years ago, and cook, do laundry and so on myself like 5 years ago.

Felt clueless as usual.
I'm really glad to have really nice and helpful classmates around me filling me with information.

One Head Smoke

The above title is loosely translated by the Chinese slang 一头烟, meaning hectic. Best describing what I'm going through this few days.

Today is the last day of my work in school. Felt indifferent. Maybe because I knew that I'll be back there and I didn't even clear my desk! All my stuffs and files are still there. I'm sure my colleagues will have a good time utilizing it because they love to use my desk to eat, chit chat and surf (because the power socket is there).

Here, glimpse of the place I stayed 6 hours a day.

So cool right?

My darlings

Minus Hjh Zu and Vicky.

Oh ya, Hjh Zu was so sweet that she left me a gift on my table before she left for Lumut. Damn sweet lah!

P1190070

The thought of giving me a gift is already sweet enough, when I opened up the gift.... *melts*

P1190108

I know the box itself doesn't look too appealing I know. And you might even think that its a purchase from B$1.80. But its not!!!

 P1190100P1190099

So pretty right!!! Yes, the photos look familiar because she extracted it from my blog. But its so so so so beautiful! No other drinks but h2o in it because I don't want to stain it.

Thanks Hjh Zu. Really appreciate the gift lah!
Mwahhhhhhs!

P1190110

Up to now its still a happy entry. And I'm not going to spoil it with my rants, even though I felt really pek-cek (frustrated) this afternoon, rushing here and there and in the end, I didn't get to get things done.

Got good news though, I'm getting a room in the hostel! Yay!
Bad news, the finance was out of number and I had to settle the fees and get the keys tomorrow.
I'm so going to be pening later. Packing the hell outta me. Dustbin, mirror, blanket, bed sheet, printer.. maybe next week lah, can print at Ye's shop for the moment if I need it, shoes (heels, flats, sport shoes), baju kurungs for 5 days, casual wear, daily facial products and make up.

My lappie, whitie and what else ah? Oh ya, pots, plates, bowl, chopsticks, spoons and fork!

Sigh, like moving house again right?

And YC is still thinking to move to the hostel and complained that they rejected his application! Apalah... House near near got food to eat, aircon to sleep in still wanna try living in hostel.
Anyway, I bumped in to YC this afternoon and had a small talk. Later Maurina too, in the finance department! Hahahhha. That girl is too busy/ lazy to update her blog and girls, when are we going to have breakfast? Miss Mau is only free on Friday morning or Sunday.

I printed out my timetable and.... my classes damn full ah!!! I'm going to have class from 8am - 5pm/ 6pm everyday. I hope there's chance to amend it so I can have some time to go swimming with my boo and also, I WANNA TAKE UP PART TIME JOB LAH!!!

(Btw, any kang-tao peeps? )

I'm tired. Its good that Bobby is going to be the one driving tomorrow.

Anyone going to the Pusat Ehsan Charity Bazaar tomorrow?

Keep the length or Chop off the hays?

// post edited - 3/8/2008. Scroll down //

Since I'm "going back to school" soon, I was thinking to get myself sort of a new image. I had not have any hair cut since my last perm. Hence... the hay-like dry hair with split ends.

Sigh.

And yeah, no treatment, steaming or what so ever.
Told you before, 10 cents is big like lorry tyre to me now.

Today... I feel like chopping them off.
This is the length of my hair now.

P1190052

Just the length I used to dream off back in the days. Problem is, it kinda got out of control. Its frizzy, dry and of course, split ends. I like the curls being all natural and wavy, but its totally out of place if I don't apply any mousse or styling gel. And since I'm so karit and lazy, applying it to my hair daily and washing it off at the end of the day is really troublesome.

P1190054

Oh thanks to Victoria Beckham, Rihana and Hebe, everyone seems to have that funky short (bob) hair now. And my pancake face says no to it. The only kind of hair style that goes well with pancake face is probably like hers.

Don't tell me you don't know the legendary Zhen-Zi ah? The ghost who crawled out of TV/ well showing but her bloody big eyes with her rebonded hair cover 90% of her face.

So yeah, I have made up my mind about the hair cut, as long how much I'm going to chop off, we'll see. Normally hair stylist will go suggest this and that knowing what's best for the customer without her saying yes/no one lah.

God, I hate going to saloon.
I can't pretend that I'm sleeping because I wanna keep an eye on him/her. So please, no talkative hair stylist later ya.

Bless me roots.

...........................................................................................................................................................

//added

(I'm loving Windows Love Writer... Blogging is so much easier with it. Just that I can edit the font colors...)

P1190057

Picture taken before we got our hair cut. Yeap, we went to the same saloon because its unisex. And look how potato he looked!

When he just started to work, he made an effort to at least gel his hair. And lately when I had lunch with him, his hair is exactly like the photo above, potato! somemore the necktie senget lagi! Like don't give a damn for how he looks anymore.

Oh well... low esteem again during his fat days.
But I still love him.
(After all, more surface area to pinch his tummy! Muahahahahhaahahaha!!!!)

The End Result
P1190060

I don't have the courage to cut short so its not that short. The hair stylist recommended me to straighten my hair, that means.... money fly fly again.

I washed my hair already and now it looks nothing like the picture above. The curls are back and... I need to be fair with big eyes to suit my hair style now!
