Day 4 – War Remnants Museum was too depressing for me so I ate ice cream to cheer myself up!

Freaking long post title I know. But didn’t that line tell you straight what happened that day?

01 02 03
Camwhored a bit before heading for breakfast.

Err… fyi, remember the “Bomb Japan” incident? Err.. You know when you flush and the water doesn’t go down, just don’t flush again. I act-smart and flushed it to try my luck and the water didn’t went down, instead.. the water level rose! It was just at the neck of the toilet bowl. Another inch and all the digested and filtered leftovers of Bobby the Great Pooper will kiss the ground.

Really beh tahan so I went down stair and used the washroom in the lobby, in my PJ.

04

Oh, this is how Vietnam Dong looks like.
“Tai-kak-lai-si”, a bit like Hell Notes…
Especially when the figure so big.
Sorry Uncle Ho. No hard feelings ya.

Walked a bit and found…..

05
My favorite food in Vietnam!!!
BANH MI!!!!!

I’ll kill to get one now!
I was surfing at a foodie blog in Taiwan and there’s this Vietnamese Restaurant there selling Banh Mi for NT120!!!
That’s BND5.50!

And, I bought this yummilicious goodie for only 10,000 dong!
BND0.80!

Banh Mi is definitely in the Top 3 favorite food list.
Baguette with pickled vegetables, pate, mayonnaise and various meat fillings!
Simple, yet divineeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~

I tell you, go Vietnam don’t eat Banh Mi no need tell people you go Vietnam ah!
Okay, I exaggerated…
But, DIE DIE MUST EAT OKAY!

06
Eat liao people also can smile sweetly.
(Seriously, I’d not seen such demure smile of myself in any photos…)

Walked a little again and decided to eat at Pho 2000.

07

08

09
Ordered a Pho Mini Size (34,000 dong) for myself and Pho Dac Biet (means Special, I know.. macam Mandarin for 特别 right?)

The Pho Dac Biet had - fillet, well-done flank, fat brisket, tendon, tripe, muscle and well-done brisket.

10

Not bad leh me, ate the Banh Mi all myself and downed another bowl of Pho.

As for drinks… needless to say, we ordered soursop again!

11
On the way to War Remnants Museum

12
We passed by this place on our first day in HCMC and it was so happening. And this, was how it looks like in the morning.

Compare to this…

So.. I took advantage of it.

13
“Santa Santa. I’ve been good this year. Where my playsend?”

Couple of turns and we’re there!

14

War Remnants Museum

15
Entrance Fee : 15,000 dong

16

17
Saya tourist sakai.
(BWAHAHHAHHAHA! Sorry baby. I couldn’t resist)

18 19

When checking back the photos in the camera, stupid Bobby kept pressing back and forth the two above photos and laughed.
Saying, “LOOK AT THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE TANK AND OUR ARMS! I CAN NEARLY REACH IT AND LOOK AT YOURS!”

Translation : YOU SHORTIE NONNIE KING SIAW CHIN!

Pffttt!
Not fair! I didn’t stretch my body properly okay.

20

21

Blowing a kiss to Air Force.

22
Bobby wanna gorek hidung nya…

24
Pretend to climb up the ladders. (There’s a sign say cannot climb so I did a “air climb” lor.

25
Back to dating Air Force wtf.

26
There, the museum.
I don’t know if they purposely left the other half un-tiled or what..

27
Cute drawings of kids. All about world peace.
What? I cannot act cute is it?

Then I asked if Bobby want to take a photo with those drawings. He paused for awhile and said why not nonchalantly.

Next time I know, he’s posing like this.

8
Um… Don’t be surprised please fellow readers. That, is what the real Bobby good at. Be Kanasai.

After 30 minutes of looking at the photos and whatnots (bullets, guns and deformed fetus…), I felt so depressed.. and tired too and I just couldn’t bring myself to read anymore.

I just sat on the bench and waited for Bobby.

Imagine this. I speed-read and maybe within 15 mins, I’ll finish the whole section. But for Bobby, he reads everything .tho-rou-gh-ly!

I sat on the bench for like 15 mins already, played Big 2 in my phone till I sien, went back to look for him… he was still near the entrance!

*jaw dropped*

I didn’t want to interrupt or rush him because he told me from the very beginning he wanted to find out the whole story of the war (which, is good for lazy people like me. He just summarized everything in just… 3 minutes). I just walked to him and reminded him gently (really gently okay! Now don’t give me that   look) that the museum will be closing for lunch soon and so we gotta hurry up and go visit the tiger cage.

29
Here, Tiger Cages. Not for tigers you moron.
It’s for political prisoners.

Anyway, I didn’t took much photos in this museum because… I just didn’t have the heart to do so.

After leaving the museum, Bobby and I agreed that we wouldn’t be visiting anymore museum.

30
To prevent me sulking I guess…

We then took a cab to Pasteur because malas to walk all the way back already. And looked for……

31

email :fannyhcm@vn.vn

Told you the Xmas decors there were all OTT!

32
Hehhee. Just by looking at the menu perked me up!

33
His choice. A very manly ice cream.
Ya, 75,000 dong…. our second most expensive meal in HCMC.

But it’s worth it!!!
A die-die must try too!

34
Mine! 68,000 dong.

35
Cute! The washroom is even cuter but I malas to go back there with my camera liao.

36 37
I don’t understand why some people said we have “fu-qi-lian” when we look so different!

38
It’s all about the presentation!

39
I have to be honest, Bobby’s ice cream tasted better than mine.

40
*toooooooooooooooooooooooooot* The number you dial is unreachable. Please try again later. Owner busy eating ice cream and malas layan you.

After Fanny’s, we walked around aimlessly again…
Not exactly aimlessly lah, it’s more like.. go with the flow?

41
Kelly, your shop again. But then, cannot be “Bui” since you so thin.

Walked walked walked… and makan-ed at…

42
Wrap-and-Roll

43
Men who can read maps are sexayyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
Okay, just don’t look at his bright yellow kawaii phone holder.

44

45

Regular spring rolls with peanut sauce. I love peanutsssssss!

46
Banh Xeo. Wanted to try out the famous 46A banh Xeo but it’s quite far away from the areas we walked. So, we opted for this instead.

47
Pandan Chicken with sticky rice.

Imo, sticky rice is best eaten with something sweet.. like MANGO!
Oh wait, ba-zhang is salty and I like also wor.
It’s okay, I always confuse myself like that.

48
The interior.

Walked around again after our late lunch.

49
Spot Parkson!
Yeap, same like the Parkson in Malaysia.

50
Wuuu….. LV…..
I bought….
.
.
.
nothing out of it of course.

Bobby was telling me during this trip that he’ll like to buy me a LV someday. I smiled and told him it’s not necessary because LV is not in the top of my list. He seemed relieved until I dropped the bomb.

I want a Chanel instead.

51
Saigon Opera House. Passed by only.

Went shopping in Parkson then headed back to our hotel to get freshen up before dinner. Well, we like to take our trip slow and easy for this mah.

52
Bobby wanted to buy Banh Mi from this stall after tasting mine in the morning. We thought it should be pretty good because some uncle tapao-ed 12 banh mi before us.

53
God bless the inventor of traffic light~!

54
Cute Pikachu on the plastic bag of Banh Mi.

55
It was just okay for me. A little too spicy for my liking.
I still prefer the banh mi from the auntie I bought this morning.

Walked around Bui Vien street and stumbled on this.

56

Pepperonis Pizza & Cafe. A budget Italian restaurant.

57
Bobby bought this for me because he said it’s very “me”.
Well, I think the whole world knows I love $$$$.

I bought 3 eye masks like that for the 3 besties.
A big wet eyes one for Kelly because she always *big wet eyes* me when msn.
A –___-“ for SL because he always “no eye see” when it comes to his work.
A ~@@~ for Theen because, the other two was taken by the above mentioned people. It’s okay, Theen doesn’t read my blog anyway.

58 59
Yet another anticipation

60

61
Nice baguette, sunnies side up and generous portion of salad.
BUT SUPER DISAPPOINTING STEAK SIZE LOR!

They shouldn’t call this Beef Steak. It should be, breakfast set with bonus portion of mini steak.

62
Mushroom soup. Boleh tahan lah… But Bobby said nice wor.

63
I like this idea!!! Perfect for indecisive people like me, when it comes to food.
Pasta Platter!

My favorite would be the green coloured Chicken Pesto.

Damn full after eating (but not very satisfied) and walked the other way back to our hotel.

Passed by this cute little stall selling pets clothing!

64
I think it’s about BND8 for each.

666768
Cute kan the dog of the owner?

We didn’t see any ugly stray dogs on the street, only pretty and cute dogs!
And, ZERO CATS!!!!
Guess it’s not so convenient for Muslims then.

69
Bobby bought this for his dog. CNY baju I guess. Hahahahahaha

Lastly,

65
I wonder what this “Fuki” shop sells…
