Fried Pasta with scrambled eggs

Bobby has this… “creative” touch when it comes to cooking, in a bad way, which I would use the word “uncanny” for it. Really, uncanny combinations.

The very first time he volunteered to cook dinner for me was back in his uni days. Boiled pasta + Campbells Mushroom Soup. That’s one dish for you. Then, fried shredded potato with egg, super lightly salted…

Just last week, he argued with me that pak-choy can be grilled. Yes! PAKCHOY! He wanted to grill PAKCHOY!

I don’t know… I googled up Grilled Pakchoy… (or Bok Choy), there IS recipe for grilled pakchoy (sorry for my lack of knowledge, or lack of time viewing AFC) and here’s what I found.

Errr… does this look tempting to you?

Anyways….

Then we talked about when was the last time he cooked something for me (August 2010 btw, this is why you should keep a blog because… everything is there!) and he came up with various combinations again, crazy food combinations. “I want to try fried pasta with scrambled eggs”.

I had to tell him to keep to the basic, just follow the recipe, you’re no Jamie Oliver, and guess what he said, “Why you no supportive one? Ba ba ba, I cook carbonara lah… Boring.”

So last Sunday, we went to Soon Lee to get the ingredients for carbonara and Bobby said he’s going to do everything himself, without my help. (Meaning to say, when he’s cooking.. I keep my mouth shut)

I volunteered to cook Cream of Broccoli, to go with the pasta, you know.. balance diet.

An hour later, he asked… cried (to be exact) for help in front of the stove… (Oh, I left out the lizard-in-the-pot part, will tell you all later about that)

Apparently, his “suppose to be creamy carbonara sauce” …. kelaie (is that how you spell), the eggs and milk just don’t want to be friends. Ya, that bad.

He was really disappointed with his cooking and he said he’s going to blame it on the lizard.

(Here’s the story. After boiling the pasta, Bobby wanted to strain it and while wanting to pour it out, he saw one baby lizard in the pot… Dead… i-wanna-puke-now-just-by-thinking-back…. Super phobia. We had no idea how the lizard ended up in the pot, most likely, it fell off from the ceiling? I’m not going to use the pot anymore. Period)

Bah, here’s Bobby’s fail attempt on making spaghetti carbonara.

DON’T BLINK!

fried
Those are clumpy scrambled egg btw…

When I saw it served on the plate, I said…

“Wow baby, you actually achieved your goal of cooking “Fried Pasta with Scrambled Egg”… How did you do it? Got vision eh you.”

(Okay.. the last sentence I baru add in one.. very kanasai I know)

I’m sorry I have to blog about this because, this is like the most exciting/funny thing that happened to me last weekend and I definitely would like to remember this for the rest of my life, telling my kids that their father used to be, or maybe still is, a keh-kiang cook.

Good thing must share share mah.

(Bah, you all don’t laugh at Bobby so much ah, later he doesn’t want to cook for me anymore)

100 Day Project: Day 33 – A Picture of The House You Grew Up In

P1020050
Second house of the blue barek.

I love my neighbourhood. It’s fun to see people’s expressions when they know how near my house is to the facilities just across my house, and also next to it. It’s 10 minutes walking distance to my secondary school, around 15~20 minutes walking to the town.

It’s just a tiny house with nothing fancy inside that I’ve lived for more than 20 years.
Quiet, slow-paced and peaceful.

p/s: If you find the barek familiar, tolong don’t expose kan ya.

100 Day Project: Day 32 – A Picture of A Crazy Night

Dee, Atul, Tina, Nonnie and Mau

Not exactly a crazy night.. but super adventurous.
*nudge Maurina*

We agreed to meet up in Serusop mosque and waited 30mins for Atul. Text her, called her, checked twitter and everything, still no sign so we’re actually quite worried because she’s not the type who will turn up late and just disappear like that.

Then, we decided to check out the ambuyat place in… what’s that area again… Kelabau?

The area so was dark and dodgy with like, a zillion potholes on the road. And you know what, the place was closed.

So, we had to think of another place to eat and Maurina suggested Jade Crystal, in Madang….

And…… she brought us to holland (Chinese slang for.. lost).

Not exactly lost but, overshoot with the road / cannot find entrance / need to do one big u-turn / conclusion: stupid route…. Lastly, we ended up in Sg. Tilong, Villa Mauri.

Where’s Atul? That girl overslept. Shifty
She joined us at about 8.30pm. We’re suppose to meet up at 7pm.

The above photo was taken in Kiulap, because that’s where I parked my car.
Can go for treasure hunt liao kan? Oh ya hor, girls… next time we participate treasure hunt together okay?

100 Day Project: Day 28 – A Picture of Something You’re Afraid of

(And I have to find the cutest non-threatening cartoon snake so that I won’t scare myself when I open my blog. Will be better if there’s no fangs.)

I have Ophidiophobia. Like super super super duper afraid of snakes.
Any snake, including super tiny baby snakes that I initially thought it’s worm until I saw it crawling away so fast and freaked myself out.
And… also… even rubber snakes.

If got like rope or belt in the middle of the road and I thought it’s snake, I’ll lift my legs up automatically and shut my eyes tight for a second.

And really, I will be angry, super mad, if you throw rubber snake at me. I’m not daring you.
Unless, you want me to turn your table upside down and have my stinky feet on your face thank you very much.

Read this here and just want to share with you girls out there, who can read Chinese. Sorry.

(16 things that a woman must do before reaching 30)

(Secretly admiring someone)

(Go backpacking)

(Job-hopping)

(Give your hard-earned money to your parents and call them up at least twice a week)

(Learn a new language)

Let’s go!

(Write a love letter to your other half)

(Get real drunk)

(Have 3 – 5 real good friends)

(Love exercising)

(Daydream for 10 minutes a day and let your imagination run wild)

(Read 2 books every month)

(Have an idol and do something silly for him/her)

(Cry out loud in front of your friends)

(Donate)

(Have a baby and watch him/her grow)

(Do something for your friend)

And, those I have not done is…

#5 – learn a new language.
If only bad words count…

#7 – Get real drunk.
Tipsy got lah. Real drunk until vomit those.. never.

#9 – Super love exercises, in order to build a good foundation for health
Flirt male ya, like it’s going to happen…

#11 – Read minimum 2 books per month
If comic books, magazines count also.. then got lah this one.

#15 – Have a baby and watch him/her grow up
This one… how ah? Expiring soon leh.

So, I’d done 11 out of 16.
Not bad also.

100 Day Project: Day 27 – A Picture of Yourself and A Family Member

P1170168

It’ll be boring if I post up another photo of my mom and I, so here… they’re my cousins. Little cousins.

During the March holiday, I volunteered to babysit them for the weekend, bringing them to Seria visiting places they’d never been to. Hoping to give them happy childhood memories they will never forget.

100 Day Project: Day 25 – A Picture of Your Day

Image(055)

Today is a special day, tomb-sweeping day for the King family.

I was emo for a short while, when I was cleaning my father’s tomb and seeing his picture on it… I just don’t know how to express how I felt… Complicated?

100 Day Project - Day 24 A Picture of something you wish could change

The Cause of Environmental Destruction: Human Ignorance Out of Control

It annoys me to no end that:

- litter bugs said that they are doing the community good because they provide jobs to those rubbish collector / street sweepers.

- ignorant people thinks, “It’s just one small plastic bag, why so serious?”

- people still choose to switch on the air conditioner when it’s already cool/cold enough.

- people goes for sungkai buffet, piles up food on their plates but only takes one bite off each food. Actually, wasting food itself already irks me.

I wish I could change their mindset.

OhMyCard !

Sometimes… I think God really loves me….

because…

MY PRAYERS GOT ANSWERED!!!!!!!

Maurina and I are having this travel plan and if really really really jadi (please jadi), we have to be on this super strict shopping diet and the girls were laughing saying that maybe our next dinner will be eating nasi katok. Baik nasi katok, I was thinking those 6-in-1 pack red bean buns for B$1.20.

Then last few days, Hadi invited me to an event and told me it’s kind of like a product launching. And when Hadi invites you to something, you better go because it’s guaranteed good stuff!

Introducing you,

OhMyCard, the very first restaurant privilege card discount card in Brunei!

Hadi and Loo were thanking me appreciatively for travelling all the way up and I tried to act cool outside (cannot too obvious right) because inside, my face would be something like this,
thinking of the card….

WAAHAHHAHAHAAHHA!
Tight on budget, still can go eat good food!
Problem solved!

Hello. 10% is quite a lot okay, haven’t you heard of
“Sikit-sikit, lama-lama jadi bukit” ?

And look at the number of participating restaurants!
Accepted in over 50 restaurants and over 65 outlets nationwide.

No more points-accumulating slash payah-payah collect receipts slash force yourself to dine in frequently in the same place just to get membership / privilege card. (And by the time you accumulate enough, also sick of the restaurant liao lar)

And.. save wallet-space!
Take a look in your wallet and see how many discount card/privilege/loyalty/stamp cards you have. Then think again how much wallet space can be saved just with one card.

Open-mouthed smileOpen-mouthed smileOpen-mouthed smileOpen-mouthed smileOpen-mouthed smileOpen-mouthed smileOpen-mouthed smileOpen-mouthed smileOpen-mouthed smileOpen-mouthed smileOpen-mouthed smileOpen-mouthed smileOpen-mouthed smileOpen-mouthed smileOpen-mouthed smile

God, grant me one more wish please?
Expand the list all the way to Belait!

Buccaneer, Marilyn Cake House, Zaika, RMS, Sports Café… who knows, even Universal, Soi Heng or the mien-tang’s famous Lee-style fried kueh tiaw? One can always hope right.

Anyways, here’s some lousy photos I took for this morning’s press conference.

P1170267 P1170269P1170270 P1170271P1170273 P1170275

Malu to say, I’ve never been to Aiko Sushi and the sushi I tasted today were way beyond my expectation! Definitely going to give the restaurant a try after collecting my OhMyCard.

For more information on OhMyCard, you can visit their fb page here.

Mind you, they are having a “buy one free one” promo now so better act quick.

Card available in $28 (6 months validity) and $48 (12 months validity) and it can be purchased in any QQ outlets or QQeStore.

And if you think $28 for a discount card is not worth it.. let me do the maths for you ya.

Let’s say you spend $5 for your lunch (and based on my once-an-OL-too-experience, it’s pretty normal to exceed $5, especially after payday or i-am-so-stress-i-just-wanna-eat-i-don’t-care day). With the card, you’re entitled for a 10% discount, so you save $0.50.

$0.50 x 5 (working days in a week) x 4 (weeks in a month) x 6 (months validity) = $60.

$60 – $28 (the price of OhMyCard with 6 months validity) = $32.

There, you save $32 just by owning that card.

Not forgetting to mention, dinners, tea breaks, breakfasts, suppers….
I’m sure this card will be in great use.
Btw, it’s minimum 10% and up to 30%.

Winking smile

100 Day Project: Day 23 – A Picture of Your Favorite Book

P1170276

Ami, the child of stars.

My latest favorite book, borrowed from Joanne auntie. She was recommending this book to me and without me asking, she just passed the book to my mom, and I fell in love with it right after after reading the first 10 pages.

Know what’s the most fundamental law of the universe?
Love.

100 Days Project: Day 22 – A picture of something you wish you were better at

Dancing, or to be more precise… hand-eye coordination.
I fail at most DDR (dance dance revolution) attempts and the best grade that I’d ever scored is.. urmm.. D. And that’s like the easiest song. No rhythm, no grooves in me.

Maybe that kind of explains why I still have not pop my clubbing-cherry.
I certainly don’t want to be seen as an awkward penguin flapping around the dance pool.

100 Day Project - Day 21 A Picture of something you wish could forget

I want to forget about my past relationships.
Really, I’m not proud of them but those are some “good movie” material.
Don’t ask.

Have you heard of Nul Hajika?

I’m sorry if you feel offended when I say…

BELAIT HAS THE BEST FOOD IN BRUNEI!

But that’s the fact isn’t it?

Seria kolomee, fried kueh tiau, french toast with cheese…. Not only nyaman, CHEAP some more.

It’s true that there’s a lot of hidden treasures which outsiders (those not from Belait) are not aware of and so today, let me introduce you our (as in my colleagues and I) new found favorite.

It looks like what most Malay restaurants look like but the menu is definitely has something different.

P1170243

Their mee gulung is one of the popular dish but I’m going to feature another dish here… something you’ve not heard of….

ROTI JOHN HONGKONG STYLE WITH CHEESE SAUCE!

Yup, roti john – biasa lah… everywhere also got…
But Hongkong style wor… you heard? And… Hongkong got roti john meh?
Then then… got CHEESE SAUCE!

Cannot imagine leh?

P1170245
There, roti john HK style with cheese~

Basically, it’s roti john with 2 sunny side ups drowned in cheese sauce. But I really think it’s genius!
Simple, but genius.

P1170248
Hungry already?

Anyways, guess how much it costs.

B$ 3.50 and ladies, mind you… order one and share with your friend because based on my dining experience, ladies normally can’t finish the whole thing to themselves.

P1170247

Oh, also available in black pepper sauce.

Sarcastic smile

Nul Hajika facebook page here.

It’s located in Pandan 5, Wisma Yakin Building and you first heard if from kisich.blogspot.com wtf… if you’re not from KB. Hahhahahhahaaa.

No, I wasn’t paid to blog about this.. I just thought it will be nice to share good things with kawan-kawan.
