In loving memory of our beloved Crown

Often when I sat in Bobby’s car, his heavy old crown, he would love to tell the story of how he hoped that the first girl who sit in the passenger seat is his girlfriend and he is so going to marry that girl. (I wonder if it is a guy’s thing that the first female passenger seems like a big deal)

But it turned out the first girl who popped his driver-cherry was me, and I was just his classmate, a girlfriend of someone else that time. And boy, was he really really really disappointed!!! HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHHAHAHHA.

And fast forward 10 years later, he married the first girl he drove.

Despite of the car being old and not in it’s best condition, we still love the car nonetheless. Bobby had no plan in getting a new car at all because it was his first car that his father gave it to him. It was the car he traveled up and down Miri for his studies. It was the very same car that he drove to Seria to paktoh with me. Lots of fond memories.

But, everything came to an end on 1st September 2013.

Bobby was on his way back home from his office when another car steered into his lane and hit him……
And that, was how the car got totaled….

Everything just happened so suddenly.

Bobby had some minor injuries, cuts, bruises and tiny piece of broken glass went into his eyes (all is good now). I remembered clearly how after we settled everything and were left alone in our room, the emotions that we had been holding in just exploded and we hugged and cried.

And now, Bobby has been car-less for 3 months and it’s either me or my father-in-law chauffeuring him around.
He is kind of enjoying it though.. Shifty

But still…. every time when we see any Toyota Crown on the road, we’ll be like, “Sigh… I miss the Crown” “Me too…”

crown

p/s: Bobby still hasn’t decide what car to get. We are now paying more attention to our honeymoon trip preparation and car-hunt will start next year. (Well it’s just another 3 weeks to 2014 anyway)

Hop Hop Hippity JELLY BUNNY Hop!

It’s finally open!

Colourful, comfortable and really cute shoes! Who’s gonna say no to that huh?! Oh oh, plus candy scent too!

I got my very first pair of Jelly Bunny early this year and boy oh boy, it’s like the best working shoes investment ever!

And I did a very ridiculous thing when I just bought it. I was telling Sheepy that my new shoes smell like vanilla and knowing she’s a vanilla scent lover, I took off my shoes in front of her and tried to shove it up her nose asking her to smell it! HAhAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! *crazy colleagues ftw*

Celebrating 50 years of awesomeness in style, 60s style~

Short note:

Woohoo!!! I’m in a jolly good mood now because my semester break for two weeks has officially started. Albeit I have like a collage assignment, museum review, portfolio, essay and more self-practice to be done but hey, at least I’m having my social life back! A lot happened during this few weeks of me not blogging, some happy some upsetting… Will make use of this break and blog more I promise!

I missed the Timesquare one and there’s no way I am going to miss the Seria one, my favorite outlet!!!

553708_404899159610613_687089359_n

I wasn’t aware of the Timesquare one and it was only when it was ending at night then I passed by and wondered what was all the hype about with my husband. Only to get my answers after I checked Instagram and FB flooded with posts of people dressing up like the 60s and read up about the event. Slow poke, I am.

Nevermind, I had another chance! Thank you Buddha!

It was on my last day of school before the semester break and despite the tiredness from commuting to BSB and back to KB, preparing for our awesome presentation (more about that later) and also essay due, I got back in KB at like 6pm, got a quick shower, dressed up and went straight off to CBTL Seria.

Why did I say I love Seria outlet best?

Simple, it’s my favorite place to hang out with my buddies and never once we left the place when it’s still open, except once when there’s a power failure. We usually meet up at around 8-ish, sit, chit chat, drink good coffee (and Theen complained why Hazelnut is always out of stock) until they slowly switch off the lights and we realize oh, it’s time to leave. Good times.

Oh and also, unique gourmet menu varieties that is ONLY available in the newest branch, Seria.
(Super proud to be a Serian now. Muahahahhaaha)

Anyways, back to yesterday’s event.

There was already a big crowd when I arrived and the event was nicely organized. There was a counter, a small table where you register, after registering, and just wait for your turn to pose and snap.

No 60s outfit?

Don’t worry, props and apparels were prepared!

How thoughtful right? Thank you Deseo Boutique & Home Decor

The set with a cute couple thinking how to pose.

The backdrop showed the first Brentwood store in Los Angeles, California with a touch of Brunei outlet store feel.

The TS one, a better view on the backdrop.

The busy crew vowed to give every customer great experience and memory.

Good for me that FussyKelly was game enough to join the fun, SL was stuck in a boring dinner so only the two of us participated. Before we just walked straight in to the set, Fussy pulled me into a corner and discussed how we should pose. My very enthusiastic friend here.

FussyKelly choosing our photo and later the crew printed it on the spot.

The fabulous prizes!
Even consolation prizes pun I don’t mind!

Our shots

We wanted something different, not the usual “family portrait” kind of pose so we came up with

1) Me being the delivery guy and Fussy the hot dame waiting for the coffees. (top)
2) Bad Fussy got away with my coffees! (bottom)

We’re both happy with the outcome!

And….. and….. erm…. did you all notice that the Seria outlet’s backdrop has a VESPA in it!
Muahahhahahhahahah!!!!

I was amazed by the photo quality and both of us secretly took note of the printer model just… in case. I still love you my dear Canon Selphy, even though I wish that I can have the latest model with wifi. Such a Canon girl, my camera is Canon, my photo printer is also from Canon.

After the shoot, what better than enjoy a good cup of coffee and tea ending the night perfectly.

5 winners will be contacted and announced on 30 September throught facebook, www.facebook.com/thecoffeebeanbrunei and additional 5 winners will be also chosen to receive consolation prizes. Check out #coffeebeanbrunei50 for photos posted.

Ristorante Buon Gusto, Brunei

To satisfy our cravings for Italian, we chose Buon Gusto for lunch the other day.

It was my second visit to this restaurant and I remembered I quite liked it during my first visit.
Affordable and pretty good food. Love their desserts especially!

We ordered….

Soup of the day – Cream of Carrot. Yum!

Pizza with the name Ultimate Buon Gusto , cheese overload I kid you not!

Fettuccine Ghiotta

Tiramisu

I don’t usually order tiramisu because it’s usually disappointing. But this is really really good!

Chocolate Pudding. Not bad, but will be way better if put in oven another 20 more seconds. It’s too watery.
Sad….

And guess how much is the total bill?

  • A soup
  • Pasta
  • Pizza
  • 2 desserts

A grand total of BND24.50!!!!!

What a steal right!!!

Not sure if it’s because that there’s a promo or what because I didn’t notice but my happy husband is definitely very pleased with the price.

Yokoso Japan: Day 5–Gundam, Palette Town (Toyota Mega Web, iReal and Venus Fort)

If you went to Odaiba and didn’t take photo with the life-sized Gundam statue, then you can’t really tell people you’d been there. It’s like a MUST-DO!

That’s how close we can get to it. And there’s a lot of people taking picture too.

Then we walked walked and walked to our next destination, Palette Town. Palette Town is a large shopping and entertainment complex consisting of the Venus Fort shopping mall, Toyota Mega Web, a Ferris Wheel, the Zepp Tokyo music venue and Tokyo Leisureland.

A 115 meter tall ferris wheel.

Took the above photo because it’s very very photo-worthy!
1) A cool and fashionable mummy
2) in wedges (that high), stroller and full of shopping bags
3) THE BABY LOOKS LIKE IT’S GONNA DROPPED OUT FROM THE CARRY BAG ANYTIME SOON!

And this cute little girl is her other daughter. I super salute the mommy.
Bringing two kids (one baby, one toddler) alone out shopping in wedges!

And then, we reached Toyota Mega Web, a giant Toyota showroom that shows off all of Toyota's latest models, car accessories and technologies. Attractions include test driving of cars (requires driving license valid for Japan) and a museum exhibiting cars from past decades.

Super cool lah! There’s just so so so many models unknown to us!

Cool name! What’s your car? Sai!

Super handsome Crown.
Baby, if you upgrade your crown to this version then I’ll be able to drive your car!

Awesome feature for the disable, adapted car seat.

A closer look

It was announced that the demo of iReal will start in 5 minutes. Told you we’re like super lucky! We never really check and expect but it was just such nice coincidence that we get to see awesome shows!

That’s iReal, a 3-wheeled electrically powered one-passenger vehicle, running on lithium-ion batteries.

It has two modes. The above photo you see is in Low-Speed Mode, the vehicle is upright, and moves around at 'walking pace' at similar eyesight height to pedestrians, without taking up a large amount of space.

In High-Speed Mode (above pic), the Toyota extends in length by leaning back and extending the single rear wheel to improve aerodynamics and stability, thus being able to achieve a speed of 18.6 mph, or 30 km/h. It leans into corners, like other tall, one-man vehicles such as the Segway, to prevent it from tipping over.

All info of iReal is just copy and paste from wikipedia.

Doraemon and friends are everywhere!

Another awesome feature

We all entered for the test drive and they only allowed 3 English speakers and 3 Japanese speakers each time.

Pray hard hard!

And Vai and I got it! Poor SL didn’t so he became the photographer.
*dui sim kam*

Paying attention to the instructions

Yay I’m first to try!

It was super awesome!!!!!!!

Super happy Vai

After Toyota Mega Web, we then walked to Venus Fort, a shopping mall in the style of a 18th century South European town.

*ahhem*

So pretty

Like Macau’s Venetian right?

The colour of the “sky” actually changes!

Japan, so technology-forward, of course have the first “Teleport Station”.
We’re going to TELEPORT TO SHINJUKU!

Rush hour in the station don’t play play… super scary and crowded like sikit lagi gugur dari platform

We met up with Fussy in Shinjuku and later decided we wanna have dinner in Shibuya, so we had to take train to Shibuya again.

And…. we took the wrong direction and ended up in the wrong place. We stopped in Itabashi and took the right train back. Hahhahahahaa. Dramatic adventure!

Hello Shibuya, you look so pretty at night.

With help from this super cute cop, we finally reached our destination in 5 minutes. THE POLICE SO CUTE LAH!

Cool restaurant in the next post.
