I know the title sounds a little cryptic but there’s nothing secretive about it… If you have been following me in my instagram. I’d officially move to KB last Sunday and bid Seria goodbye. But I know I’ll be a Seria-girl forever in my heart.

Everytime when I need to tell people where I lived, I’ll say, “You know Seria public library? Just opposite it, like literally opposite!”

And usually what I got in return is this face… , following by…. “THERE’S A LIBRARY IN SERIA????”

Apalah……

Actually, if you read my blog long enough to see the photos I posted up about my house and the views I had, its really quite simple to find out where I lived… Unless you never know the existence of the library lah….

And now, this is my new room…

I still have 3 boxes (in my room, the living room one not yet!) to unpack and I seriously hate those small ki-lik-ka-lak that cannot be categorized… Oh, and clothing to be folded and stacked nicely… One cabinet to be painted… Ngaleh ku…

Oh, and I hate hate hate, not my new neighbours… but their habits of leaving their shoes lying around at the walkway WITH THEIR SMELLY AND WET SOCKS ON THE FLOOR!

How I know its wet?
COS I FREAKING STEPPED ON ONE WHEN I WANTED TO LOCK MY DOOR!

Urgh!!!! Not to mention the other neighbour who always took my parking spot. I’m still trying to be nice not to give them a “love note” on their windscreen though..

One thing I love about the new place is definitely the location (albeit not as nice as my Seria one) and the view from my windows… Karang ah I show.

No one eats tarap like my boyfriend does

Hello elibadi.

Today’s post is about tarap, my boyfriend’s ultimate favorite food…
(Filler post because I can do this in just 10 minutes.. trying to fulfill my 2012 resolutions of blogging more)

Now, this is TARAP!

It has another name called Marang and I wouldn’t even know if I didn’t googled tarap. And no one actually cares what other name it has because it’s already well-known by the one name in Borneo island, TARAP!

When I was a kid, I used to think that this fruit is named tarap because of it’s erm.. brittleness. I don’t know lah, but it’s a slang for us that any men with hair shorter than 1.5cm will be called talap-tou. You know, tarap-head.

(And yes, itu cina tidak panai cakap itu “R” sound. Lumah (rumah), Lolex (rolex), Lambutan (rambutan), Lan(something)…. okay, that one really starts with L. Hahahhaahha)

Okay, talk too much. Anyhoos…

The flesh inside.

No skill, or tools needed to open a tarap. The ripe fruit is opened by cutting the rind around, twisting and gently pulling. Actually, no spread them apart can already.

Happy boy.

He was sad that I gave one tarap away to my colleagues and it’s not ripe yet when he came down. So he bought himself two from Miri and terus ate one after lunch! HE FINISHED ONE WHOLE TARAP HIMSELF! I only ate like, maybe 10 biji.

Even after he finished all the arils inside, there were still some flesh stuck at the core and he went on like this!

For the past week

Just a short recap what happened for the past week, which is new year eve to current day.

Went to Miri on 31.12.2011 with mom and auntie at 6am because the myth was “YOU GO MIRI SUPER LONG QUEUE! CANNOT MAKE IT! QUEUE 3 HOURS!”…. And of course, since we’re already there at the borders at 6.15am, WHERE GOT QUEUE! And also, for Bobby and SL who went at 2pm, FussyKelly and KL at 4pm, STILL NO QUEUE!

Craved for ketam for dinner and went to Yu-Ha-Hai for new year eve big feast and waited for an hour… still no food. The restaurant auntie said there’s only 2 chefs in the kitchen and like 20 tables waiting so couldn’t help to serve faster. Even the drinks arrived 45 minutes late!

So in the end, we gave up waiting and when we’re leaving, they said the midin and si-ham were ready. Had those tapau-ed and went to eat lamb chops at gerai instead..

TILL NOW I NOCHET EAT MY KETAM CAN!

Oh ya, finally popped my *cough* clubbing cherry!

And… “lam” after countdown and went back to hotel at 12.45am..
Very loser-ish I know. Hahhahahahhaa

Moving house in a week’s time.

Been really busy hunting for furniture, curtains and whatnots. Not to mention packing and transporting boxes. Now I’m left with air conditioners, Astro installation, telephone line and Espeed to worry off. Oh, and stove too. And paint the ugly wall also.

And last Thursday, had a last steamboat at my barek with the besties… We are all so going to miss my old place! BWAAAAAAA!!!!!!!

Incredible India: Day 2– Life like a taitai (Part 2)

We followed Ram and Monica to Taj Mahal! Woohooo! TAJ MAHAL baby!

It’s a good thing we bought our tickets at Agra fort earlier because the crowd there was crazy! And also, as a female tourist, we sibeh privileged because we got to queue in shorter lines. Because there’s 4 lines. Local male, local female, male foreigner and female foreigner! So yeah, way way way way shorter queue! Gotta love India!

Yeah, they asked where are we from and we answered Brunei. Of course, it didn’t’ ring a bell to any of them and hence they turned to their teacher and the male teacher was like… “Hmm…. Brunei?”

Then we explained further saying that it’s near to Malaysia and Singapore.

Oh, it was like 12+pm when we’re done with both Agra Fort and Taj Mahal, and that’s just what we wanted to do in Agra. And we finished within 3 hours! And our train back to Delhi was 8.30pm. We had like what… 8 hours to kill! Hahhahhaa

Oh oh oh. And you know what’s the super duper am-kuk thing?

TOM CRUISE WENT TO TAJ MAHAL ON THE SAME DAY AS US WTF!
WE EFFING MISSED HIM BY FEW HOURS!

Nehmind, at least I was in the same time zone, same country, and some what very very close latitude and longitude! I’m pretty sure he breathed in the air I breathed out so I win.

At the entrance (or exit in our case) of Taj Mahal. The crowd was just crazy!

One of the top question I got asked when I came back from India is,
”Got lau sai ah?”

The answer is, NO!
We’re perfectly healthy through out the whole trip. We were very careful with what we consumed. Only drink from sealed bottled water! Nothing from the road side.

Seriously, if you were me, seeing the above picture with those flies flying around drinks, food and fruits in the stall, will you still buy and drink it? No right?

This is Radisson Hotel (Agra)!

Nope, Agra is a one-day trip so we’re not staying there.

We’re there for lunch!
(Macam sibeh rich like that)

The security is really tight. Got security guards with guns guarding the main entrance and the gate is always closed. Only open for (very obvious) tourists like us I guess.

The hotel is very pretty! Very modern and classy.
That’s the waiting area I guess?

The restaurant, Latitude.
No one was there when we came and we’re like… “Eh? How come empty ah? It’s lunch time leh.. At least got one or two people lah. Not nice kah the food? Or, the people here eat lunch at 3pm one?”

And the answer is the later one.
People started to come in at like 1.30pm. When we’re already half done.

WHERE TO GET CHAAT IN BRUNEI?!!!!

Apart from the buffet spread, guests were also allowed to order anything pasta or satay and don’t remember what else for the chef to cook on the spot for you.

IT’S SUPER WORTH IT OKAY!

(Since the whole day we only spent money on entrance ticket. We had quota to splurge okay)

We wanted to have spa treatment in Radisson but the service is only available for hotel guests. And we asked the receptionist to recommend us a place and she gave us a name, JAYPEE!

With 50 rupees, we reached Jaypee Palace hotel!

The tuk tuk could only take us to the gate, we had to walk our way in to the hotel lobby.

Yay!

The hotel is huge!

Time for some ayurvedic spa!

There’s too many awkward moments here but all is good. I a bit malu to say it here but if you are my friend, ask me personally and I will tell everything and confirm laugh till you tummy ache I tell you!

Too dramatic!

Okay, I will tell one.

After our sauna, our masseuses asked us to go to the window and checked out the peacock dance in the garden. It’s one of a company annual dinner’s performance. And when we’re like ooh-ing and ahhh-ing, suddenly our masseuses pulled us back because

THERE WERE PEOPLE (MEN) STARRING AT US FROM BELOW, MOUTHS OPENED!
(The room is in first floor, a lot of people in the garden looking up!)

I seriously don’t know, don’t dare to imagine how much those men saw in us but yeah… one of the bimbo-est moments ever!

Reached the train station at 7pm and sat there, do nothing and looked at people
(which was really fun to do!)

Like the above photo, a man was chasing the train and hopping in but the train was already very crowded till people sat at the door there.

And you know what’s their toy, a cockroach!

One of the boy found cockroach on the floor and picked it up and started to throw at his friends. It was like, the cockroach is their football/netball like that…

I have not watch slumdog millionaire but.. you get the idea.

Maurina and I were really bored and she’s like, I can do 10 different styles with my scarf.
But she lazy layan me after the second one..

We made friends with these two beautiful ladies waiting for the same train with us.

It was really cold at night and we’re just sitting there waiting for the train (which delayed). Suddenly the women sleeping on the floor with thick blanket seemed so xing-fu.

Actually she is. Her husband kept checking if she’s properly covered and he himself just watched the wife sleep.
So sweet kan!

Oh, I got a lot of stares again because after the massage, I took off my leggings and only walked around with my long shirt, which is long enough to cover my modesty. Then the sun set the the temperature went down and walking with legs shown in public seemed really crazy.

So I had to cover my legs up like this, with a scarf.

Mau, really tired and cold after sitting for 4 hours!
It was so bad that she said, “I feel like my butts have lines front the chair!”

Our train came at 10.44pm, delayed for 2 hours and 15 minutes.

On the contrary, all our flights from AirAsia flew on time and this train and the flight to Goa (Kingfisher) delayed!

Bye bye Agra!

Not that hungry because we had a super filling lunch from Radisson remember.

Again, the food is good!!!

And this, was the end of our day 2.
Reached hotel at 1plus am, woke up the next day without alarm and SHOPPING!!!!!

Day 2

Xmas gift 2011

This year I came up with a …. how to say…. cool… difficult… or thrifty way of exchanging xmas gift. Told Bobby we don’t need to spend a lot of money in getting a gift so I made a rule. A few rules.

- Not more than $10
- 1 item only from a category. As in, you can’t buy 20 bottles of Sehat water.
- As many gift as possible.

And.. I won! By kinda cheating…..

I came up with 16 gifts! (Mostly $0.50 btw ) and Bobby only gave me 5 gifts.

His gifts.$10.10 in total. Oh, left out the cellotape in the above picture.
It costs $0.30 btw.
My favorite is the Softlan. Cool or what!

And my gifts. Xmas card, a folder, a pen, a hairband and xmas chocolates.
Sikit or what.

Incredible India: Day 2– An adventure packed day! (Part 1)

Yes, I started blogging my India from day 2 because day 1 was just flying from Miri to KL, then took bus to KLIA from LCCT to get away from the crowd and heat, more food choices and cooler air-conditioning, took bus back to LCCT and boarded our plane to Delhi. Checked in our hotel in Karol Bagh and slept……

And…… what’s going to happen the next day were just beyond our expectation!
Not in terms of hygiene or what so ever… it’s just so…. FUNNY!
So funny that every time Maurina and I thought about it, we just couldn’t stop laughing!

Here goes funny story #1

After a loooooooooong day, loooong flight, we arrived our hotel at around 11pm (which is like Brunei time 1.30am) and the taxi driver was really mad at us because he couldn’t find the hotel. He was literally shouting at us, which is okay because we don’t understand also so no hard feelings. We just didn’t care and stayed inside the taxi. Hehhehehee. Oh oh, the taxi driver stopped every time he saw someone at the road side and kami terpulang jadi tukang tanya, asking where is hotel sunrise.

It was really dark outside with not much people, the place looks super ghetto-ish and honestly, I was a bit worried because… WHAT IF WE GOT RAPED AND ROBBED?! Die man die! But luckily, we arrived safely la~

Okay, that’s not the funny story #1… I just got carried away….

So yeah, we arrived Delhi late and the next day, we had a train to catch which departs at 6.15am and the hotel staff suggested us to leave at latest 5.30am, to avoid traffic and all… YES! TRAFFIC STARTS AS EARLY AS 5.30AM!

After a quick shower, both Mau and I set alarms and went to bed…. knowing we only had like, 4 hours to sleep!

And Mau’s alarm went off first at 4.45am (I think). She went to take shower and when she’s done, she woke me up and went to put on make up and stuffs. I terus sat straight on the bed, forced my eyes to open and tried to get ready for the day. When we’re all done, about to leave the room, I took a look at my watch and yelled,

MAU! IT’S 2.30AM IN INDIA!!!!!!!!!!

She changed the time zone for the phone and watch, but not her mac. And, the alarm went off from her mac!! No wonder I felt that I just dozed off and had to wake up liao. And guess what we both did?

WENT BACK TO SLEEP WITHOUT CHANGING!

You know, PLANKING tarus! With full make up and all dressed up.

And, we slept till 5am. Woke up, didn’t even bother to brush our teeth… just wore our shoes and took our bags and left.

That’s our funny story #1…

Tips to all: REMEMBER TO CHANGE THE TIME ZONE FOR ALL YOUR GADGETS AND WATCH!

Took a taxi to the NDLS and that place was already jam packed like sardines!

Lots and lots of honking already at 5.30am!

Syok kali ah! After our train delay experience, sleeping on the floor with a thick blanket seems like a luxury.

Okay, here comes (not so funny, but it can be if you want) funny story #2.

So as you can see, there’s a lot of people in the badly labeled train station and we had no idea where to start! As in, where the heck to board?! All the counters were closed except for one, which had like maybe 50 Indians squashing and pushing in front of it.

Then came a man offering help, brought us to the “International tourist bureau” on the first floor. And yes, there’s a label there stating that don’t play play. And came another man in smart attire looking at our e-ticket and said we need to print boarding pass. WHAT BOARDING PASS?! The e-ticket didn’t mention anything about it.

And er… you know lah, we still super blur (lack of sleep and baru woke up) and so we just followed what the man said, took a taxi to the DTTDC, which is the official ticketing bureau just to print the boarding pass because, without the boarding pass, we will be charged USD190!

Then when we arrived the DTTDC, which stands for DELHI TOURISM AND TRANSPORT DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION by the way, the staff told us that it’s too late to print the boarding pass for us as the train is chartered, and leaving in 15minutes… And we’re like, so how? so how how? so how how how? We’re not alone btw, got other angmohs there also (probably asking the same thing).

The man told us that we can hire a private cab, taking us all the way to Agra and back, including all entrance tickets and parking fees. Okay, sounds not so bad… after all, we did that before when we’re going Siem Reap for Angkor Wat. Maybe that’s like our fate, you know, mesti ni private taxi to see world heritage (Agra Fort and Taj Mahal this time).

So how much?

USD300+ !!!!

Wah lau eh…. the train ticket only BND20+ nia, return somemore… chi sin one is it? $300+, USD lagi! I don’t photocopy money one. So, due… or thanks to our frugality, we rather miss the world heritage than pay USD150 each. So we went back to the train station to try our luck. Who knows maybe got people last minute cannot go and we can buy from that person leh~ kan kan kan? Optimistic ftw!

And, at the same time, I texted Diyana who is in India right now sama hubby nia yang working there and told her our situation. She said maybe we can just majal because erm… Indians ni majal and sometimes they just let you saja. I’m so glad the message came in time, because… WE MAJAL-ED!

When we reach the train station once again, the train was about to leave and we just barged in the gate and ran towards the train, which was already moving!!!

YES! WE JUMPED ON A TRAIN!

Just like in the movies! With random stranger at the train door asking us to run and ready to pull us up. Okay lah, truth is, the train wasn’t that fast since it just departed and maybe engine baru warm up wtf. Hahhahahahaa. But hell yeah, WE JUMPED ON A TRAIN! You ever or not? Hah? You ever or not!
Hehehhehehehee.

Then, the scary part came.

THE TRAIN CONDUCTOR IS CHECKING EVERYONE’S TICKET!
And we got no boarding pass. Die lah die!

My face was so stiff that I think I can kapit a fly just by wrinkling my brows. And Maurina was like, act nothing Nonnie! They’re gonna find out! And we came up with plan A, B, C, D, E, F, G! Actually just one plan, that is.. act dumb and don’t understand anything he said, talk and answer in Malay, cry and throw tantrum if he marah. I mean, how bad can it be? Kick us off the train at the next stop? Maybe…..

It’s only sort of our day 1 in India and we’re already facing critical situation like this?! HOW?!

Our turn soon and…. Maurina passed him the e-ticket we had in the folder… and…. he was reading through… and…

HE SIGNED ON IT AND WALKED AWAY!

WHAT THE HECK?!

So what’s the whole boarding pass about? Some more really got office one okay! Wah lao eh, steady also their touting skills! Hai yah…… jumpa orang jahat! Lucky the only money we wasted was just the taxi fare, which is like $10 only.

To anyone out there who plan to take trains in India, the e-ticket you print and purchase from Cleartrip is already sufficient. No other things needed and no one should be checking your ticket too.

Okay, you judge la, if this is funny for you. Or, stupid… But don’t say stupid lah. Kasian us kana tipu $10.

Bah, enough already, enjoy the pictures took in Agra fort.

We’re given a bottle of mineral water each and we’re like, for us only kah because we’re obviously tourists. Good also ah, got privilege. Sekali nia, other people also got.. just that we’re late that’s why baru kana bagi. Suspen… Prasannnnnn….

Reached Agra Cant 2.5hours later~

Chilly day.

Seriously, how not to feel safe in India if every where you go, you see police/soldiers with riffles!
Even security guards have pistol with them.
And they checked bags and bodies thoroughly.

So I hereby declare… *dunno correct word to use or not*, India is safer and cleaner (because it doesn’t stink due to the cold weather) than our neighboring country that starts with the letter M.

Oh ya, we made new friends in the train, sitting next to us on their honeymoon trip. When we’re waiting for our flight in LCCT, we saw a lot of Indian women wearing sparkly red and white bangles and we’re like, maybe that’s the latest trend or something, mesti ikut! Skali, the red and white bangles are worn by newly weds. Hahahhahahahaaa.

Anyways, when we’re about to leave the train, we had a small talk with the couple sitting next to us talking about our next destination. The two main places we want to go are of course Taj Mahal and Agra fort and we can start by going to any of these two first. Ram and Monica chose to go to Red Fort first, then Maurina and I started to discuss where should we start.

Maybe Ram sensed some sort of confusion or he felt it’s his responsibility to take care of two ~~bimbos~~ tourists, he asked if we want to share a cab and we’re like, why not? It’s more convenient to us since we don’t need to worry kana tipu or what since we have a local to handle the situation.

Tuk-tuks are generally an easier and cheaper mode of transport and they charged by going from point to point. And, each ride is about 50 cents to a dollar. I’m not kidding you!

Diesel costs 72 rupees per litre, which is like BND1.80, as to compare with our 31 cents per litre..

And the taxi driver bringing us was super serious and …erm… safe?
He was talking to Ram yadda yadda yadda, not that we understand and later he turned around and gave us some advices. We’re like, “okay… okay”, but he still felt we’re not paying attention maybe. So he pulled over at the road side and started yapping away! For like 5 minutes!!!

“I TELL YOU, YOU BUY TICKETS HERE. BECAUSE IT WILL SAVE YOU 100 RUPEES. THEN YOU DON’T HAVE TO QUEUE FOR TICKETS AGAIN IN TAJ MAHAL. AND PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE REMEMBER, DO NOT, I TELL YOU, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM ANYONE YOU SEE HERE! IF YOU WANT TO BUY, YOU TELL ME, I BRING YOU TO MARKET! CHEAPER AND SAFER!” (Repeat 10x)

Oh ya, Ram and Monica hired the taxi driver for the whole day (8 hours) and said it’s okay, we didn’t have to pay.We even had a free See, got GOOD PEOPLE also one okay! Early morning kana tipu, then later kana belanja. God has everything under his control~

It’s a good thing we bought Taj Mahal ticket here too because the queue in Taj Mahal was crazy! Saved us lot of time! Oh ya, we didn’t get any tour guide, or rent those audio guide.

Remember I told you all India doesn’t stink? But their camels stink a lot! Even in winter still can smell so we gave up the idea on taking the camel ride.

Actually we wanted to take the camel ride but couldn’t find any. And when we passed by the hired camel… wah lao, smelly till….

So it’s the school holiday already!!!!
But, I’m not quite having the “natural wake up” benefit yet because will be flying off tomorrow with Mau.
Woo, can’t wait!

And I’ve been really busy with work, like super ultra busy. Well, I believe it applies to everyone else too rushing deadlines, organizing events, preparing presentation/proposal and stuffs.

Anyways, some photos for y’all to see.

Our theme for annual dinner this is Arabian night. And I recycled my baju from last year (60s) and piled up some make up and accessories, it worked! Hahhahahaha.

Although…. people commented that I looked more like Pocahontas.
I agree.

But still, I did everything myself including the make up. Not saying that I’m very good at it but okay la, at least it didn’t look like I got punched in the eyes or a brown panda escaped from zoo. It was my first time lining my eyes like that and also because I don’t have any brow pencil, I put dapped on some black eye shadow powder and created a shinchan look.

What! All Arabians have really thick and dark eyebrows what~

Oh ya, I got my wish list for the exchange of gift. Well… I asked for an extension cord and the secret santa gave me a little extra special, a headband! (The one I was wearing on the above left pic)

After the dinner, we headed to the bowling center for a tournie. For the first 15 mins, we just barged in with our arabian attires until everyone went to change and looked more “normal”. I just took off my head gear then viola!

And yesterday, I went to my very first garden wedding.

The deco was so pretty, with the sunset and breezy wind and cute flower boys and girls, it was so perfect and romantic!

I went a little teary when the pastor read the vows.
Oh wedding, how sweet and romantic~

Bah, that’s it lah.

Tried out a new eatery in town today, Wan Choo’s!

The shop is nicely renovated and the ambience is just great for hanging out. I only got to know this place through Sheepy because she ordered cupcakes from them once and it was pretty good.

The eatery has limited seats, fitting more or less around 30 seats.

For now, they serve this “practice lunch set” (pre-cooked but yummy nonetheless! Had a bit of taste on their mixed veggies and fried chicken today and nyaman!!!) so get over to their facebook page and check out their lunch menu.

Hopefully they will start serving other food such as nasi lemak and so on on the 28th November.
So yeap, definitely heading over there again next week for more goodies!

Red velvet baby cuppies~

Oreos! Salivating yet?

I had two minis ($1 each), one red velvet and one oreo because I ate a little at work already earlier on and if you know me, I’m not usually a sweet tooth and these cuppies are good! Definitely not those which I only took a bite and offer anyone beside me at that time (which I normally do because most desserts are too sweet for my liking).

And this peach cake pudding / bread and peach pudding (sorry, I’m just assuming that that’s the name) is DA BOMB! Took the first bite and kept nodding to Sheepy for approval. I love it! Why? Because it’s not (that) sweet! The pudding is so soft and jelly-ish like tofu-fah with fluffy cake in between and jelly at the bottom and top with peach slices. On nom nom nom nom!

Never in a million years I thought I’ll own pet cats. I …..okay, the word hate is too strong. I dislike cats. Not that I’ll stepped on them, throw stone or abuse them, just that I would prefer cats to stay away from me…

And things changed lately!

My mom loves feeding the stray cats around my residential area and hence we have an endless cycle of cats-feeding. The latest addition to the “stray-cats-feeding-project” are these two innocent ones.

They puppy-eyes me everytime I pass by and when I stop and squat down, they will come forward and circle around me, putting their heads to my hands like asking me to pat them. So very the manja!

Vegetarian Chee Chiong Fun!

(Yup, vegetarian because I didn’t want my Muslim colleagues to ragu-ragu about the food I brought)

The red sauce is the bomb! Everyone loves the sauce and dipped the air-fried food with it.

And I brought my air-fryer along and bought some frozen food. *promoting a healthier option for fried food*

Mexican flavored BBQ chicken – 2 packers, Nuggets – 2 packets, Spicy potato wedges – 1 packet!

And it’s not even enough! Had to get some extra food because everyone was so excited with the air fryer!

While happily putting food into the air-fryer, my colleague ran towards me and yelled,
“NONNIE GOT PEOPLE HANTAR FLOWERS! I THINK IT’S FOR YOU!!!!”

I replied nonchalantly, “No lah, Bobby doesn’t even know the name of the school. Impossible”

“He went in to MIS”

“Nah.. for MIS’s people one. Don’t make me get excited over it okay, later it’s not for me then I’ll be super disappointed I tell you”

“NO NONNIE! HE’S COMING OVER HERE NOW!!!”

So I got curious and went peeping through the windows as well. My other colleague who just came out from her class met the delivery guy and took over the flowers.

“Nahhhh… for Suzie one lah!”

“He took back the flowers! He’s coming over here!!! (Opened the door and shouted) SUZIE!!!!!!!”

Vky was more excited than me! Hahahhhaaa. And yup, the flowers were for me.

(Bobby really didn’t know the name of my school … well, not much people can… because my school name is really long! You know what he did, he went through my photos and looked into those events photos hoping to get a hint of my school name. He was really lucky because one of the pic has a flag with the name printed on it)

我只知道，今年會是我第一年收不到爸爸的生日紅包

記得他每年不管怎樣，無論如何都會變出一個皺皺的紅包袋

裡面放著皺皺的錢。。。

然後叫我從房裡出來，用那滑稽扁扁的聲音說句happy birthday

偶爾在睡夢中被輾過的溝渠蓋的聲音弄醒，會不自覺的想去開門

以為是爸的腳車聲，開門讓爸近來。

有時臨睡前好像會聽到客廳里的電視聲

覺得爸好像就在外面一如繼往的開著電視打呼

才發現全都是心理作用

原來我還沒真正習慣沒爸爸的日子

雖然有時想起不開心的往事還是不能釋懷。。。

沒見到爸爸最後一面成了我此生最大的遺憾

我無法想象爸臨走前是多麼的孤獨害怕

他有沒有話相對我和媽說？

沒想到在我忙著收拾行李準備出門的那個晚上

也沒正眼好好的跟爸爸說話，看看他

After a long sunny afternoon having a garage sales with the girly bloggers, non-stop munching on the air-fried assorted seafood balls and fries “sponsored” by Maurina, we decided to go for a yummy bowl of froyo instead of squeezing through the crowds in TechExpo.

Yes! A new froyo place in Brunei! Woohooo!!!!
(I didn’t know about it until the girls mentioned… sigh… orang ~~kampung~~ Seria bah)

Jam-packed!

Crowds everywhere and it’s just too much to shop for, especially those cosmetic shops like Holika-Holika and Etude House. Damn, you’ll dissed the branches here after you shop there seriously. It’s way cheaper over there, like… 50% cheaper than the price here, with the latest product and really helpful staffs.

(And, the person who bought the most is not me nor Vai, it’s the guy)

Nothing much to buy here because it’s pricier compare to Myeong Dong. I saw the exact same pair of shoes I bought in Coex Mall that costs 25,000 won and it was selling at 33,000 won there.

Actually, my friend Nana (who stayed in Korea for a year) told me that the cheapest place to buy thing is at those shops at MRT station.

And for me, just Coex Mall and Myeong Dong are enough to shop liao.

Since Vai didn’t follow us out, we went to Myeong Dong Gyoza restaurant for dinner.
#5 in Tripadvisor and man, we’re definitely not disappointed!

Only 4 items on the menu, kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), mandoo, bibimkuksu, and another noodle dish.
And people kept flocking in although it was already 9pm and they close at 9.30pm.

Sibeh nice this one! Maybe because it taste more like… our local noodle soup. The dumplings big big one okay.

Seoul Fun: Day 4–Everland (Peter Pan Syndrome)

(Peter Pan syndrome as in don’t want to grow up ah, nothing to do with “Ariel” of Indonesia)

Yayyyyy… Day 4…. 2 more days and I’m done posting all my Seoul trip blog posts! But… sad also, that means I have to think of what to blog next. #writersblockwtf

So, due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to postponed our Everland trip one day behind and.. it’s a Saturday. I’d read up in the internet saying that it’s best to avoid visiting Everland during the weekend but… no choice lo. Because… I so not want to go Everland on our last day (Monday), it’s reserved for SHOPPING and whatsoever we had not done.

The easiest and cheapest way to go to Everland, for us.. was by bus of course. You can take MRT to any of the station stated in the website, and later hop on to the bus. Unless you want to sign up tours with those local travel agents and go to Ginseng factory or Gem factory and spent few hours sulking lah. If you want to fully utilized your trip on a budget, please DO YOUR HOMEWORK! And, it’s fun! I don’t know ah, I actually do enjoy read up articles and tips on travelling and plan the itinerary myself. More in control and I know exactly what’s going on.

Took MRT to Gangbyeon/Gangnam I can’t remember and followed the crowd and walked to a bus station. Actually, we quite kalok one lor, most of the time when we don’t know the directions and too lazy to ask (because it’s going to be very chicken-talks-to-duck), we just follow our instincts and viola, we got there!

Waited for less than 10 minutes and the bus arrived. The bus station in Seoul is pretty cool (maybe cos I sakai never see such advance bus station), there’s a LED board indicating the number of the next bus arriving and the ETA! Not like our purple bus, you never know when is it going to arrive.

It’s about an hour ride to Everland so we took cat naps, look see look see the scenery (highways) outside, day dream, and…. stared at the disgusting bus driver scratching his feet, digging his nose and stick it to the steering wheel….

An hour later~

Went down the bus and walked to the shuttle bus area. THIS PLACE IS HUGE! While on the bus, we passed by countless numbers of big parking lot and….. PARKING SPACES, 15,000!!!!

CRAZY! It’s like the whole Pandan area transformed in to parking lots!

Here comes to bus.

Hoping in the bus, can already feel the happy atmosphere liao. Seriously, all the staffs in Everland like on pills/batteries, super HIGH you know. They talked non-stop, wave non-stop and smile non-stop. Very helpful, cheerful and seriously nothing like those working in Jerudong Park 15 years ago.

Inside the bus, the driver has his own “room” inside the bus isolated from passengers. But he spoke to the microphone and talked non-stop, asking passengers to say “Wooooo!”, “Ahhhh!” making us really happy and high… like a small kid waiting for banana split.

We’re here!!!!! TOURIST MODE ON!

Broke my sunnies on that day too.. it’s okay, I bought a new pair from Forever 21 the next day.

This guy was hilarious! He reminds me of chipmunks I don’t know why.
He said thank you in so many different languages “Kamsahamida, thank you, xie xie, arigato” and continued talking in a long string of Korean words I don’t understand. But everyone was well-entertained by him.

T Express is a wooden roller coaster at Everland in Yongin, South Korea. It is South Korea's first wooden coaster, Intamin's fourth wooden coaster with prefabricated track, the first ride of this type in Asia, and the first to utilize three trains. It is currently the world's steepest wooden coaster, breaking El Toro's record by one degree. It is also the world's ninth fastest, fourth tallest, and sixth longest wooden coaster, with El Toro being the third tallest.

T Express was ranked as the world's best wooden coaster in Mitch Hawker's online poll in 2008 and 2010.

Seriously, after reading the above paragraph, HOW CAN ANYONE MISS THIS IF YOU’RE ALREADY IN EVERLAND!!!!

I actually kinda tricked them into this. Well, I can go for this ride myself but queuing up alone for 20 minutes is really sien… SL wasn’t very keen in this and Vai said anything. So I told them that this is the world’s steepest rollercoaster, we’re already here worr…. when we’re back in Brunei we can tell people that we’d ride on the world’s steepest roller coaster, or.. we say we miss the ride and kana people question why oh why. It’s not like you get to go to Everland everyday, every month, or every year right? It can be our first and last time wor….

So yeah… they both went up the ride with me, and came down with serious poker face saying, “I TELL YOU AH, NO NEXT TIME! NO MORE SCARY RIDES!”

They love me one lah, they’re actually happy inside that I forced them. HHAHAHHAHAA. (Song! Can just simply fitnah them in my blog). Don’t you just love to have friends like me?

Okay, we understand #1 because they have English translation.

But, what the hell is #3 talking about?

Graffiti happens everywhere… Guess people got really bored while waiting. Well, at least it’s not some badly drawn 18SX organs.

My heart was already pumping fast when it’s almost our turn.

Storage boxes for us to put our items. Don’t say I didn’t give you all tips ah, please put your glasses, necklaces (you never know), slippers, caps/hats those inside the storage box ya. It’s very safe one, because after everyone put their stuffs in, the wooden cover will slide down ready for the second batch of people. Yes, two rollercoasters operating, hence the line kept moving.

IT WAS A SUPER CRAZY RIDE!!!!!!! Seriously, I couldn’t even keep my eyes open. Tears came out, saliva flew out, hair like siao cha bor. Seriously the scariest sh*t ever. Hahhahaha. Was super high when I came down from the ride and couldn’t stop laughing but I don’t believe I just ride on that crazy rollercoaster!

I youtubed it before, and it’s 10000000000000x more exciting than what you see.

He was wearing his glasses and the ride was too fast and furious (wtf), he had to hold his glasses by pushing it with his fingers but the pressure was too strong.. sampai berdarah wah! And the necklace he was wearing kept hitting his face too. Hhahahhhaahhaa.

It’s a good thing that we had lunch only after the ride…

Errr… I went for this ride (muka tembok) because I want to challenge myself. Ask me to go for any vertical challenge ride and I’ll say yes. But for those spinning one seriously no can do. Pening!

We’re all resting on a bench facing the exit and Vai asked what’s our plan. We told her that we’re going to get some souvenirs before we go and she pointed the exit saying “Oh, we’re going to buy things” then pointed at the Everland “and then we go right?”.

Seriously no sense of direction one.

There’s another funny story that happened to Vai, actually… a lot. I’m just writing it here so that I will remember it whenever I read back my post.

#1 – We’re sitting down at the bus stop waiting for our bus to go back and Vai saw a long line at our left and asked, “Mmmm… are we waiting for the bus? Aren’t we suppose to queue up like them?”

LOL! That bus’s destination is not where we want to go lah!

#2 – Long story short, SL and I had minor miscommunication (which happens to all buddies in the world but it’s totally harmless) and Vai was so afraid that we’ll quarrel and stood in between us, saying nice things to cool us down. I had to tahan my laughter when explaining to us we’re okay, just because we argued (over MRT station) doesn’t mean we won’t be talking to each other for the rest of the day. 5 minutes later sure like nothing happen again one.

Seoul Fun: Day 3– Namsan Tower, Myeong Dong and a very very expensive but yummy meal

Continue from our Gyeongbukgong visit and yummy samgyetang in Tosokchon.
So we dedicated our afternoon for beautiful sceneries and a little bit of excitement.

Random tall guy. This awkward stable pose remained for at least 5 mins and the only part of his body that moved were his fingers. I have no idea how he did it.

Back in Itaewon (to pick up their passports/visas)

It was still early hence we went in to Kraze Burger to escape the heat.

Vai’s vege and bean burger!

It was really really really good. I know you’re probably wrinkling your brows not believing what I said because all you see in the above pic was… greens and tofu. Trust me, this is perhaps the best vegetarian burger we’ve ever tasted.

Organic wholesome food “Tofu”with fresh tomato slice, lettuce added with a unique Bulgogi sauce (Korean-style BBQ sauce) along with cream cheese, marinated mushroom on a whole wheat Bun.

Halal restaurant just across the street.

So, we picked up the passport and took MRT and went to Seoul city centre because… er… we’re curious how the casino looks like and, it’s still too hot and too early to go to Namsan park.

Stopped by this hawker stall to get some Tteokbokki.

SPICY!!!!!! Seriously, SL and I couldn’t even finish a small bowl like that.

Sibeh different from the guesthouse we stayed. Hahhaha.

Vai didn’t want to go in so she just waited for us in the lobby area… till.. she dozed off, waken by up the floor manager/supervisor and got told that she can’t sleep there.

Whereas SL and I had a kpo time inside the casino, being a busybody seeing people gambling inside, and drank all we could because there’s a lot of beverage choices (and for FREE), the toilet sibeh nice, got mouth wash somemore and in the end…. we only use 1000 won… (USD1) to gamble. HAHHAHAHHHAAA.

And, SL won 5000 won. He looked at me and asked if he should carry on and I stopped him. Already win sikit better than nothing la, if we got greedier, sure lost till pok later (by pok…. I think it’s USD10. Hahhahahhaha)

So, SL won $4000 , in won .

Back to Myeong-Dong! Liveliest area ever!

If you think this is a lot of people, wait till you see my post for Day 5. It’s a Sunday and the crowd was crazy! It’s like, having all Belait people and lock them up in one hall.

Then we went back to our guesthouse area and chose Korean BBQ restaurant for dinner.

Seriously, when I saw the menu.. and had that miscommunication with the waitress, I really felt like stomping out the restaurant.

Okay, so.. we went there because we wanted to try the Korean BBQ, and the waitress recommended us to take the set BBQ and it’s USD40 per head… for 4 types of meat (beef)… I mumbled to SL that I’m so not going to spent USD40 on a meal, and… minimum order – 2 pax. So, if SL wanna try the BBQ, I MUST ORDER IT TOO! Sampai he gave up and said he’s treating but, I bu-shuang waaaaa. Hahahhaha. Lucky I tried also, BECAUSE IT’S THE EFFING BEST BBQ MEAL EVER! #foodgasm

Second floor. It’s a 3-storey restaurant and seriously, everytime we passed by sure people-mountain-people-sea. That’s why we wanted to try it out, kiasu mah, so many people eating one sure good.

I googled the word 知牛 and most of the images that popped out are taken from the restaurant we dined in! Mostly in Japanese though, I guess it’s a popular place for Japanese tourists.

Went out from the restaurant with happy tummy and saw this drunkard lying on the floor. Within 5 minutes, the ambulance came. Well, we saw him again the next morning, with a police woman waking him up and chasing him away.

Day 4 – EVERLAND!!!!

Bite-size post~

So after Gyeongbukgong, we’re famished and couldn’t wait to munch munch!
Walked back down to the MRT station and got out from another exit, walked few minutes and we arrived Tosokchon!

Now this was something that I’d been wanting to experience for a really really long time. You see, I’d never ordered Ginseng Chicken in Brunei, because… I know it won’t be as good as what I imagined, and… pricewise too. Hence eating Ginseng Chicken was in one of my MUST-DO list! Somemore, I was afraid that if I simply pick any restaurant and try, I won’t have that kind of satisfaction and return home with disappointment. So must find the best one also!

(Just like, if I tell you, come to Seria must eat kolomee and you simply hamtam go to C.A.Mohd order that, I smack you ah!)

That’s why, if you’re thinking to travel by yourself (don’t want to kana slaughtered or forced to visit those gem factory, ginseng factory), must must must must do homework, don’t be lazy! Unless you want to answer “Meh….” everytime when people asks about your trip.

Tosokchon, did a little research on it in Tripadvisor and it was rated #1 restaurant in Seoul. But now becomes #2 liao… hmmm….. But, since it’s a popular place and so near to Gyeongbukgong, might as well give it a shot rather than randomly pick a restaurant (which sucks, because we had bad luck in picking random restaurant when we’re really hungry).

Just a few minutes walk away from the MRT station.
Quite easy to find, if you have a map in your hand.

It was around 11am when we arrived and we got a table to ourselves straight away. The waitress were already hustling around the restaurant. We’re guided to a public area, took off our shoes, sat on the thin cushion waiting to order the infamous SAMGYETANG!

Already got uncles and koko-zai eating liao.

Kimchi and pickled radish. Terus served one big pot and eat all you can.

Sibeh many small dishes… which.. we didn’t even know what’s the purpose of it.

The small cup is the wine ah. SL keh-kiang, saw the uncles sitting behind us terus drank from the cup and followed too without knowing it’s wine inside. HAHAHHAHA. He choked at quickly warned us, “EH! YOU GIRLS! DON’T DRINK BIG GULPS FROM THE SMALL CUP AH! IT’S WINE!”

HAHAHAHHAHAHAH. Laugh die me!

The wine is actually for the guests to either pour in to the samgyetang or, drink it on its own if you don’t like the wine taste in the soup.

SAMGYETANG!!!!!

Creamy soup base with super duper tender chicken. So tender that just by using your chopstick already can separate the meat from bones. I don’t know why some people said it’s overrated (maybe queued too long till dulan liao) but to me, it’s really worth the trip lo. And also got people complained no flavour, dunno leh.. I think the soup had all the original flavours from the essence of the herbs and chicken, if you want to add flavour, got salt what.

I drank the soup, and ate the chicken with dipping salt. Very nice eh~
Can tell it’s not those “express” one just by tasting the broth.

Oh, the samgyetang was 15,000 won when I went there ah. I read from other blogs and forum, it was 12,000 won, then 13,000 won and sekali when I makan, became 15,000 won liao. Steady also.

When we’re leaving the restaurant, we’re shocked to see the line queuing already and sniggered, “Heh heh heh, lucky we came earlier~ If not queue like them”

Sekali when we left the restaurant and went to the road, baru saw the real line!

WAH LAO EH! Need or not?!

Heng ah we arrived at 11-ish! No need to wait terus can eat liao. Else for sure very grumpy and wasting time. So, for you peeps out there who wish to visit Tosokchon, better go there early.

Vai was constantly on a fruit-hunt. But… the peach didn’t taste as good as we thought.
Probably the least tasty fruit we tried for the entire trip. And SL walked all the way to Namsan1.. or 3 to get the knife just to cut the peach somemore.

As for me, I still like staring at the girl’s shoes~

Kasian her pinky. It was so kiap! I also feel pain for her toes lah. Don’t know why must ngeh-ngeh fit into sandals like that.

First thing Vai did whenever hopped in to the train.
Played her fishing game in her iPod touch, then during intervals, showed me how big the fishes were that she caught, followed by asking SL, “How many stops more? Are we getting off the train soon? Where are we now?”

Seoul Fun - Day 3: Gyeongbukgong

I’ve decided. Am going to be less ambitious and split the day into segments so I can update this blog more frequent and easier to digest for you all too. Truth is… by the time I finish editing the photos, I was already too tired/bored to start typing in the text for a proper post.

Day 3 (Morning) coming right up!

The mild slope that we went up and down every day. (Better than staying in Namsan 1, I read from a review, if you stay in Namsan 1, the slope went even higher/steeper) Good exercise though. The slope gradually became easier and easier to climb up anyway.

My model of the day… okay la, actually everyday also. She didn’t bring any camera, only her built-in 1.3MP camera on her Nokia.

For cyclists

I got really conscious with the shoes Korean girls wear on daily basis and got really fascinated because HOW THE HELL THEY TAHAN WEARING HEELS LIKE THAT FOR MORE THAN 8 HOURS?!

It’s an app for Korea subway and its going to save you a lot of time and hassle. Seoul’s subway alone is enough for you to explore! Banyak line yo and everywhere is connected.

We were wondering what’s the purpose of this little door underneath the building and so ngam got a tour guide next to us. He told us it’s for ventilation in the summer and put in charcoal for heating the floor in the winter.

Most senang job ever… sit down and yell at people who trespass.

I realised, if SL’s hand is not holding to something on his right, then his hands will be in front of his pocket.. when posing.

Finally stumbled on the place to change to hanbok but the waiting was 1 hr when I asked.
1 hr of not going anywhere but just wait there, for 5 minutes of photo-taking…
